One is happenstance, twice is coincidence, three times is Enemy Action.

Naw, think its more the result of all the NOOBIES-A problem we have lately even on this forum.

It wasn’t just two incidents, it was three separate incidents in NC, Ohio and Indiana. And yeah....it’s just a little too obviousm too pat and conveeeenient for the anti-gun leftist agenda for these incidents to be real accidents. I wonder if the idiots that shot themselves were paid well to do so.

I remember this happened at a gun show in Louisville about five years back. Some idiot was bringing in a handgun that he'd ejected the magazine out of, but failed to clear the chamber.

It went off when he was removing it from the holster so the safety personnel could affix the security strip. The round struck the concrete floor and ricocheted up into the calf of the guy manning the ticket booth at the entrance.

I was about one hundred feet away, looking at a really nice 1911A1 when the round went off and just about everyone in the entire building (probably 20,000+) hit the floor.

There are plenty of autoloaders that have magazine safeties that do just what you say. I don’t care for the feature but it’s sposta be good for LEOs in the event of their weapon being taken from them they are supposed to be able to pop the mag out and disable the gun. The logic escapes me. As for the dead brother...too bad his brother is a moron.

I've been to the Indy 1500 gun show more times than I can count. If there were irresponsible gun owners there, they'd be put down in a New York minute.

And it's not just after Sandy Hook, we're talking the '90s.

These people like and know guns, and are extremely responsible with them.

In fact, the Indiana State Police are all over these shows.

I never bought a gun there, but I have bought knives.

And they check everyone who leaves.

I've been to the National Gun Day in Louisville numerous times (I plan on attending the first week of March) and that was the only time I've ever seen something like that happen. There were a couple of incidences of people fooling around with guns or acting stupid, but they were shut down very quickly and effectively by other attendees and/or booth owners.

Probably the scariest moment I've ever had involving a firearm was back in 1995-6 when I worked at a department store that sold old surplus military rifles. We were having a big sale on British Enfields so there were about three customers for each associate. I handed a rifle to this elderly gentleman so he could look it over and turned to ask the next customer what I could do for him. Out of the corner of my eye I spotted the first customer pull a .303 round out of his pocket, drop it in the chamber, and slam the bolt closed. Heart Attack!!! He was spinning that rifle all over the place, slapping it and wiggling parts to make sure it was nice and tight, all while it had a live round in the chamber. It seemed like an eternity, but was probably only two or three seconds, before I was able to duck over, grab the gun from his, eject the round, and hand it back to him, telling him to look at it that way. I honestly don't think that anyone else in the department even saw what he'd done, but that left me with a pretty good case of the shakes.

Please add: 100 people died, and a far larger number were injured, on the nation's roads on Saturday.

When, O when, are we going to have sensible restrictions on cars that are too small made with too little steel?

I would like to agree, but question your sincerity because of your sign-on date.

I never said that I only know of 2 incidents. You know there are plenty of cases where someone said that the gun was unloaded and they shot someone.

Thanks. I didn’t know that. I am not into handguns but I have a few shotguns and rifles. Not enough exposure to handguns to know.

We should just ban personal automobiles unless you can absolutely prove that you “Need” one.

Most people don’t need a car.

No telling how many lives can be saved with that one initiative. People would also be healthier and live longer. WIN, WIN, WIN.

Just because you are a 2nd Amendment supporter/gun owner/gun-show-attendee, doesn’t mean that you have been brought up right when it comes to gun safety. It sometimes seems that those who should be the best qualified to exercise gun safety allow themselves those little lapses of the “contempt of familiarity” and cause the worst “accidients”.

No, I don’t know that. As I said; no mechanical feature can overcome stupidity.

I dunno. One was a 36 y/o guy bringing a gun in to SELL. Noobs buy, they don't sell, but then neither do I. One was a dealer, the third was a 54 y/o reloading his .45 after leaving the show. Done that myself a couple of times, but I didn't shoot myself doing it. (if I did it would really suck, since I use hydro shocks in my carry weapon).

I've never shot myself, although a cousin did manage to shoot himself in the toe with our Grandpa's .22 rifle, which was defective, but the injury still could have been avoided by observing rule one, rather than resting the muzzle on his shoe. :)

Hmm... is there to be a gun banning executive order or vote tomorrow or next week?

Yes, FineSwine is due to introduce her Gun Ban, which would ban all semi-auto rifles and many semi-auto shotguns, unless they have fixed magazines of 10 or less rounds capacity, (SKS would be banned by name), 5 rounds for shotguns. (Exception for tubular magazine .22s, but that would still mean the 10/22 would be banned. I have a 25 round removable magazine for mine) In fact I don't own a rifle that would not be banned.

And this ban has teeth. While existing weapons could be kept, they would need to be registered as NFA weapons, meaning paying $200 for each weapon, maybe more if she also raises the "tax" to adjust for inflation since 1934, if she does that, it will be more like $4000. Unlike machine guns under the current NFA law, could never be transferred to anyone else, not even after the owners death, they would have to be turned in to the BATFE...
