I enjoy going to the movies but I'm not a big fan of the self-congratulatory class. If you think about it, all these actors do is "act" for a few seconds, 30 seconds, or sometimes a minute or so. If they screw it up they do it again until the director is satisfied. It does take talent to put together a well-made film, but way beyond what an actor does on his own. I roll my eyes when Hollywood talks about a film being "important". I read today on a rock website a story about Don felder, ex of The Eagles. The writer had made reference to him and Joe Walsh crafting the guitar solo at the end of Hotel California. I changed sites when the author mentioned how "important" that guitar solo was to rocknroll. Please.

anyway, I'm not trying to throw cold water on the oscars just that I think many free republicans have a similar attitude

This has been a remarkably politics-free Oscars. It has been excellent so far in that regard. I’m struck by the Bond movie tunes done by the orignal artists. The Shirley Bassey ‘Goldfinger’ blew us away here.
