OS ANGELES (Reuters) - U.S. first lady Michelle Obama made a surprise and unprecedented appearance on Sunday's Oscars telecast when she presented the award for Best Picture, the first time a president or first lady has ever presented an Academy Award.

Appearing live on screen from the White House in Washington, almost 3,000 miles from the Oscars ceremony in Hollywood, Obama praised the work of the movie industry before announcing the Iran hostage drama "Argo" the Best Picture winner.

Wearing a silver evening dress, Obama said this year's nominated films had "made us laugh, made us weep and grip our armrests just a little bit tighter."

Saw this on F&F. Doubly glad I did not watch, and have not watched the Oscars in probably ten years. Can’t stomach it.

She is about as classy and dignified as a window women in Amsterdam.

Any absolute disgrace that she is a First Lady. The video of her dancing the other day, her and her husbands constant appearances on TV entertainment shows is not only cringe worthy, but an insult to the office and the American people.

How on earth are they getting away with it?

Perhaps “unprecedented” but certainly not a “surprise.” I mean, Stalin used to hand out “Hero of the Soviet Union” awards to his pet film makers. Yet another step on our road to voluntarily becoming a dictatorship.

The real surprise was that she did not not announce her husband won for best actor. I mean that teardrop and getting choked up at the school massacre was a pretty fine example. I wonder how he managed to do it. I mean that I hope he really was sad over it, but his fascism-promoting response of gun-grabbing leads me to believe otherwise.

I am usually somewhat interested in the Academy Awards, but this year I could not think of a single movie that stood out in 2012 as worthy of an award except perhaps the movie Courageous which Hollywood would never acknowledge even exists.

No surprise for me either. Hollywood and the Obamas share common ideologies and goals. Why wouldn’t they want to be seen together. They are the true 1% who subscribe to the “for thee but not for me” attitude common to all communists and dictators.

The aim is to influence behavior and promote popular ( and at the same time immoral and self-destructive) culture through the adulation of those “acting” it out on the stage or on film in this case. If you’ll forgive the now overused phrase they are indeed “putting lipstick on a pig.” All that glitters is not gold, and in this case it is rotten to the core.

The Worst Lady’s appearance was disgusting on many levels. First...shouldn’t she be in prison for something? Second...her “white person’s hair” wig is so unbecoming to this fat grifter. Third...the military “attendants” surrounding her looked as if they couldn’t get enough of her. This is our military????? Please...someone tell the nobama grifter family that they are to be unseen.

Well,I’d like to see Mooch wind up running as the true and only nominee-—she would have NO chance of winning. However, at this point, it hardly matters:an opposition candidate from our side, wearing the (R) label is going to have infinitely MORE work to do to rescue the nation and the economy from Obama’s damage than Romney ever faced. It really doesn’t look good, no matter who runs from either party. The future is in OUR hands, folks.

That is my biggest surprise, that she didn’t have Air Force Wookie One fly her out there to do the presenting.

I figure the reason is that Hollywood didn’t want all those Secret Service Wookie agents out there in the way.

Hogging the camera is one of Michelle’s favorite things to do.Remember when she called to tell the Photogs she was going to Target in Va.?

Obama and Hollywood Go All In On Argo To Salvage Carter Presidency…

In what was a laughable attempt to convince the few who actually went to see the film Argo that the Jimmy Carter era was in fact not the disastrous mish-mash of failed liberal policies it truly was, the current mish-mash of failed liberal policies called the Obama White House, along with every bit of help Hollywood could provide, offered up the Best Picture Award to the Iranian-Hostage Crisis historical revision with a personal appearance by…drum roll please…First Lady Michelle Obama, who now clearly enjoys the camera every bit as much as her husband.

I am appalled at the presence of the military aides serving as a backdrop to this spectacle. Any self-respecting officer would find something else to do than to act as window-dressing for such a garish display of narcissism. Note how they pushed the girls up front with their big s#1t-eating grins and star-struck eyes. Revolting.

Apparently, the White House was throwing a full-blown Oscar party; Michelle was wearing a very expensive designer dress, and she had what looked like a dozen people dressed up like high-class movie ushers.

I think that party could have paid for at least a dozen furloughed employees.

Those folks were White House Social Aides, who were already at the White House last night to manage the “State Dinner” for the Governors (who are in DC for their annual meeting). White House Social Aides are a small cadre of folks, about 40 or so, from all services. They do this thing on their own time, usually after their normal working hours. Their basic function is to welcome guests to the White House, mingle and execute the plan for many of the social functions from receptions to State Dinners. I used to be one in the two Reagan administrations.

... Obama praised the work of the movie industry before announcing the Iran hostage drama "Argo" the Best Picture winner. ... "They are especially important for young people. Everyday they engage in the arts, they learn to open their imaginations ... and strive to reach those dreams."

At least they finally stopped pretending that the "arts" media is not much else but a basic political propaganda tool for them, and that the youth is the prime target because they usually don't have enough information to form moral and economic political opinions, so they can be shaped by the media.
