Around 5,200 Apollo asteroids are currently known, the largest being 1866 Sisyphus a 10 kilometer-wide monster that was discovered in 1972. Large Apollos are identified as being a significant risk to our planet, so the Chelyabinsk meteoroid acted like an Apollo warning shot.
Revelation chapter 91 Then the fifth angel sounded: And I saw a star fallen from heaven to the earth. To him was given the key to the bottomless pit. 2 And he opened the bottomless pit, and smoke arose out of the pit like the smoke of a great furnace. So the sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke of the pit. 3 Then out of the smoke locusts came upon the earth. And to them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. 4 They were commanded not to harm the grass of the earth, or any green thing, or any tree, but only those men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads. 5 And they were not given authority to kill them, but to torment them for five months. Their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it strikes a man. 6 In those days men will seek death and will not find it; they will desire to die, and death will flee from them.
7 The shape of the locusts was like horses prepared for battle. On their heads were crowns of something like gold, and their faces were like the faces of men. 8 They had hair like womens hair, and their teeth were like lions teeth. 9 And they had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots with many horses running into battle. 10 They had tails like scorpions, and there were stings in their tails. Their power was to hurt men five months. 11 And they had as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, but in Greek he has the name Apollyon.
12 One woe is past. Behold, still two more woes are coming after these things.
I'm just sayin'...
reading this, that was my thought exactly,
Very stoned.
“Where exactly did the Russian meteor come from?”
Klandathu, of course.
“well-known near-Earth asteroids that cross the orbit of Earth,”
Try saying that 3 times fast after 4 or 5 tequila shots
Is there another asteroid belt?
Alien space craft crashing, probably the mother ship.
There are two main belts- the one between Mars and Jupiter which is relatively stable, and the Kuiper Belt near Neptune’s orbit which is the source of most comets (Pluto is the largest known Kuiper Belt object).
Thailand?
I’ve read all the replies so far, and beg to point out that the headline was phrased as a question, and the key word was “exactly”. As near as I can determine, nobody ANSWERED the question EXACTLY. Just sayin’.
You must have had the same reaction I did to “the Apollo family of asteroids”—(you’re fast!):
“The destroyer. In the new testament of the Bible, Apollyon is called the angel of the bottomless pit.”
Cool.
They sound similar, but IIRC they are two differnt entities.
That is a great fusion of animation and music. Love that song!
Pluto's diameter is 1,485 miles. Eris, discovered in 2003, has a diameter of 1,850 miles. Eris' period is 560 years. It has a highly eccentric orbit, taking it at times inside the orbit of Pluto, but for now it is the most distant object found in orbit around the sun.
I’m going to go out on a limb here and say it came from outer space.
