[history]
Danica Patrick’s day ended in disappointment after she blew a right-front tire during the NASCAR Sprint Cup Subway 500 and wrecked on the frontstretch at Phoenix International Raceway.
The accident on Lap 185 was further compounded when David Ragan slammed into her No. 10 GoDaddy.com Chevy SS.

Wouldn’t have happened if she were home baking cookies and scrubbing the floor.
To: Ronald_Magnus
Because male drivers have never crashed.

She’s a talented driver and I expect to see he win before the year is out. She seems to run into bad luck, like blowing a tire or getting caught in the after scrum of a wreck that others avoided. I think she has the respect of the other drivers and isn’t being pushed around as much as she was when she first started making the transition from Indy cars.

Danica Patrick crashes hard into wall So did quite a few other drivers.
To: BenLurkin
Newman crashed earlier (twice) for the same reason, a blown right front tire. I expect this has everything to do with the setup on both those SHR cars.

To: cyclotic
Agreed. Her track demeanor is high drama and uncalled for. I’ll never forget that one year she was in the Indy 500, you would have thought she was the only one in the race. That plus the ‘Go Daddy’ commercials and, well.. Blech!

I’m not so much on Danica or Dale Jr., but that’s just me. How often do they even mention past women who raced in Winston Cup and Busch series? Yeah, I know none of them probably had the $$ like Danica does.
I recall Patty Moise for example, who was married to a fellow driver and I think fielded her own team for a while.

To: pnz1
How often do they even mention past women who raced in Winston Cup and Busch series? This is a totally different time. It is media and commercial driven. How often do you hear the names of famous former male drivers like Junior Johnson, Fred Lorenzen, Cale Yarborough, Ned Jarrett, the Unsers or Allisons mentioned anymore?
To: Alaska Wolf
I don’t know I never saw Jr. in a bikini.
I don’t think I want to either.

Let’s put it this way:
The 2013 Daytona 500 ratings weren’t up 24 percent because folks tuned in to see Matt Kenseth’s new Toyota.

To: Jemian
Don’t think she had a lot of crashes in 2012. Her avg finish in the Sprint series was 28th and in the Nationwide series it was 18th. Mid pack and back racer, but with more experience she may improve on that over a couple of years.

Gotta put up with the Danica show if I want to watch the rest of the race huh? Obviously Nas has long since transitioned from a bunch of good old boys banging fenders to a huge money making operation.
The Fox contract for example is > $300m per year. Danica brings viewers (at least for now) so she's gonna be the "fair haired girl".

My SIL is a PGA pro Don't get me wrong, golf requires a tremendous amount of skill, but certainly not the strength, concentration and reflexes needed to drive race cars side by side at speeds over 200mph. Best of luck to your SIL.
