Thats what i thought sure aint my daddys nascar anymore
Just caught the start...Bowyer very loose...dropping like a stone.
Danica seemed to move up a bit.
Meanwhile, and why I’m getting to watch a bit...after soaking the rr brake line fitting on mrs p6’s 91 Saturn for a month, I finally gave up and cut it off.
Tommorow’s adventure will be figuring out if Pennsylvania allows the use of modern brake lines or if tommorow is bend, flare, swear and start over day, LOL!
Ya mean twisted piles of metal ain’t “laurels”?
First race in Vegas was 98. Hard to believe they’ve been there 15 yrs already.
She's also the hottest act on the Strip right now.
Today I am gambling on:
What’s a “modern” brake line?
The ones on my new Chevy don’t look a whole lot different from the ones on my 67 Chevy?
At age 53, Marie remains solidly “not guilty”
George Brunnhoelzl needs to give some of these jackmen lessons.
Im a Freeper baby from 98 wow years crazy
When the driver drops the clutch 2 secs early, it’s tough to get the jack out, LOL.
Gibbs boys are too hyper on the pit entry speeds today.
I used to watch George Sr. and his brother, Steady Eddie race at “Tropical” Freeport, NY
EZ bend...copper alloy...compression fittings. Not that I’m crazy about compression fittings for brake lines. IIRC steel lines are good for 16k psi. Copper and compression around half that or less.
However if PA lets the lower psi pass it must be ok. PA is hell on inspections, sometimes for the silliest stuff.
Can’t you just buy an over-length steel line and add bends/loops to use up the extra length?
16 on lead lap 10 past halfway.
The leaders are smokin’
Yeah..you can. But on a small car like the old Saturn sometimes they end up all over the place.
FWIW on an old car like our Saturn I’ll just zip tie the new lines to the old ones. Years ago in PA that wouldn’t have passed inspection.
Mys son and I attended that race and we’re treated like royalty! Went back the next year and we were just more of the Po-white trash...
FWIW IIRC new Euro cars use a steel braided plastic or flexible line. Here it’s ok if it comes from the factory but if you retro on say a 1971 Nova ..no go.
Shoot...just missed the caution. Mrs p6 was buying something on QVC...
Of course you can, New brake lines come in several sizes and lengths but he’ll need a power brake bleeder and a compatible fluid to do the job properly...
Yeah I put all new stainless (including fuel) on my 67. Cost a king’s ransom but they are beautifully made.
I don’t like power bleeders, I use a hand vaccuum pump, it works quite well and low cost.
Of course I’m not in a production shop, LOL.
did I just see the Zest car scrub the wall?
Nearly half the field 2 laps down. The big dogs are really eating at Vegas.
Cool link, thanks!
been outside Subaruing on my daughters car gonna settle in and watch the finish...
Located south of my old stomping grounds of Cleveland, very good to work with.
It has been San Juan, for 9 days. I was supposed to go home yesterday, but we changed flights because of the threatened storm. I was really hoping to be home, have a cold/cough. Dreading what the flight is going to do to it tomorrow.
5.6 secs for 2 tires, man these guys are rippin’
I’m always impressed how flawlessly the “putting on” guy is with the tire placement on the hub.
Ugh, strategery is not Sarah Palin. Sigh.
What the hell is it with Mikey? damned fool...
Newman done blowed up REAL good....
And a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your winner.... Matt Kenseth!
Take that Jack Roush...
Heading down to Dollar General! KENSETH WINS!
Nice clean race.
Where are the trolls from the last races who say we only watch for wrecks?
Excellent racing at the front, the studs were hooked up and the duds were way off.
Hard to believe they’re at Bristol already.
The short tracks are my favs!
Fun to watch.
Terribull for my fantasy league teams.
Kenseth is a great pickup for Gibbs.
His other two guys are talented but emotional, Kenseth is Mr. Cool, and still a top flite chauffeur.
Great job Kenseth... grumble, he was on my b team.
ALL the ppl I know who go to this race or watch it only do so to see ppl hurt. I personally have a friend who is in a wheelchair with limited motor skills from racing up in canada. He cant walk or hold a pen. I wish they would do away with this stupid idiotic sport....its barbaric!
Nice, clean race today at Las Vegas. Kenseth won.
Lots of us watched all the way. Enjoyed the race.
Saying NASCAR fans watch to see ppl hurt is like saying men watch women's tennis to see panties.
Bristol is next week BTW!
Yabut, didja see her panties?
It could be poly-armor, it could be nickel/copper, it could be something more exotic.
Don’t think I wanna see those mousey things.
BTW anyone else notice Janet Guthrie’s Birthday March 7th ? IIRC.
Then there was SCCA and Donna Mae Mims. Met her a few times at Yenko Chevy.
Nice gal..the pink lady.
The guys at thw garage showed me a really bendable nickle-copper line. Tomorrow I’m going to the parts stores to ask about it. Not sure if my flare kits will work.
Ni-cop, you can get it in 25’ rolls or pre-made sections just like regular steel line.
It costs a little more, but you can tie and twist it into a pretzel shape without kinking it. Your double-flare setup is all you need.
I have heard you need to tighten the fittings a little more to get a seal.
Ni-cu....that’s what I’m going for. Thanks!
the race really was uneventful....we pulled for Kyle Busch but glad he was at least in the top 10...don't know why he got penalized since we didn't have those radio ear phones thingamagig....
surprising how many people travel for Nascar...at least two different couples from Canada...one couple from North Carolina...people from my state of Washington and Oregone....people of different sizes, shapes, lots of kids, a few blacks and seemed like lots of hispanics too...lots of women love nascar...Las Vegas hotels were jammed with Nascar fans this weekend....
one downer was the "shuttle" system....we waited for close to two hrs and then another hr back to the strip, and there were thousands behind us...
shouldn't complain...the shuttle tickets cost up to $45 a piece, and we got them free along with our free race tickets....(it pays to build up comps while losing...lol)
