You are partially correct, I heard that the bomb was built using remote control parts, but what I also heard last night on AC360 the method of detonation is still in question and that a cell still could have been used.

Whatever the mechanism, as long as no governemnt employees were hurt, 0bama and the Democrats and the liberal media don’t have a problem with exploiting it to advance their political ends.
Last official word I heard was that toy radio control xmitters and receivers were used. However, I expect this version to be subject to change as have most other “facts” in this case.

The ‘fireworks’ these two used are what they called ‘mortar shells’ for an ‘artillery cannon’. They have a LONG FUSE on them, ready to USE. All they had to do was light it, close the pressure cooker, and walk away.
Or use a model rocket spark ignitor hooked to a relay. Only needs about 3v to set ‘em off.

Include a circuit interrupter for a safety switch. Just like in model rocketry.
Although they could just light the fuse and walk away, this is not all that easy to get away with in a crowd.
Remote electrical detonation is the way to go.
If they'd used modern electric pressure cookers the timing system would have allowed them to set up about 24 hours in advance of the event!
2.4Ghz RC stuff would have a up to 1/2 mile range and would be cheaper than a phone and un traceable. 2.4gh RX’s are $5, ESC’s to ignite a fuse are $6, TX’s are $15...and this is for GOOD stuff.
These guys would have to be complete idiots to use a cell phone with this small of a bomb. Maybe with an OKC sized bomb.
