"Rot in hell":Daughter's outburst about mom who has resurfaced after missing for ELEVEN years

Full title - "'You deserve to rot in hell for what you have done to me': Daughter's twitter outburst about mom who has resurfaced after being missing for ELEVEN years"

The teenage daughter of a woman who secretly left her family 11 years ago says she's angry and doesn't want to have a relationship with her.

Morgan Heist said Thursday that she's still trying to sort out why Brenda Heist would have decided to abandon her and her brother in Pennsylvania in 2002 and hitchhike with strangers to Florida.

Morgan Heist is now a 19-year-old freshman at a community college outside Philadelphia. She says she thinks about how she's spent the last decade mourning a woman who was alive.

Heist’s ex-husband meanwhile has said he is angry but working on forgiveness. He was once considered a suspect in her disappearance.

'There were families who would not let our children play with theirs because of me,' says Lee Heist Senior.

Brenda Heist was reported missing by her husband on February 8, 2002. The then 42-year-old was last been seen that morning dropping off her two children at school in Lititz, Pennsylvania. Her car was found a few days later with no apparent sign of a struggle.

Then on Friday evening she walked into Monroe County Sheriff’s Office in Key Largo, Florida and announced who she was.

After arriving in the Sunshine State, she had lived as a homeless person in the Key West area, sleeping under bridges and tents and eating food thrown out by fast food restaurants, police said.

In all the years she was missing she never used a bank card or ID, even when she made some money cleaning boats.

Yeah, looks like the 11 years have not been kind. Wonder if there’s a mental illness or drug problem.

Could be schizophrenia.

My wife recently ran into a childhood friend who seemed fairly normal, until she mentioned that she had to go to the cemetery to protect it from witches.

Sounds like someone has abandonment issues. As for the mother, she’s got some ‘splainin to do.

Looks like a lot of local women in the Florida Keys if for no other reason than years of exposure to the brutal sun. Obviously in this woman’s case, drugs, booze and psychological issues took an additional toll.

The girl is certainly entitled to her anger, but she would be wise to lay off the tweets until she has processed this more.

That said, it's pretty darn cruel to walk out on the kids and not to even let them know she was alive.

Well, there was more after that. It was very sad.

The worst part is that she can’t be institutionalized against her will, and she was being taken advantage of.

I think you are correct. I have experience with a relative with schizophrenia, however the appearance in the photo is that of a meth-head, again experience, but with a neighbor who physically went to ‘H’ using meth.

Perhaps the schizophrenia started her on her trek into oblivion, and there she met up with drugs such as meth.

I am not sure that there is a drug problem.
This woman had something physically wrong with her when she disappeared.

No eyebrows or eyelashes.
No telling what all ails her.
Ive seen some pretty effed up stuff from people over the years, including abandonment.

She was an accountant, too. Whatever caused her to leave must have been pretty traumatic.

Heist had an accountant-type job at Lancaster Lincoln Mercury, a firm spokeswoman said.

We had some hot shot high level fellow at work just disappear like this about 2 years ago.

Exemplary executive and family man.

They found his car abandoned, and he was gone.

Turns out he was doinking some gal half his age and they split.

Abandoned family’s and careers.
Weird.

Great advice.

Something snapped; mother’s typically are not wired to walk away from their children.

The daughter’s reaction may be understandable, but that is her mother and with a bit more maturity she may realize how important it is for her to know her mother and even to find the courage to forgive her.

And the clock is working against such a possibility.

Yes I do. The one on the left looks halfway normal. The current picture on the right looks like she’s crazy...and probably is. But, the currently picture of the woman resembles a lot of the people who voted for Obama.

I think they turned up in Mexico.

Imagine the abandonment the family felt and all those that trusted and admired them.

Jim Morrison summed it up with “people are strange” and “Freak parade”.

Just my opinion, but the daughter would better serve herself to allow herself to forgive, even if she never allows her mother to see her again. The anger will eat her up inside, and I’m thinking the mother may not be worth all that anger.

It’s amazing how a different pair of shoes can change a person’s perspective.

There was a time when I would have felt just like that daughter feels today. My father took off like that, and then showed up 15 years later. I was pretty angry at him, too. If that wasn’t enough, he did it again and years later we learned he’d died.

Then, about 12 years ago, a relative of mine went missing. She was found dead 7 years later. It was hell to go through that, and still is more often than I’d like. But I loved her so much that if she were to show up alive, even now, I would cry rivers, oceans even, of tears of joy to have her back even if she did return as a crack whooooore. It doesn’t mean I wouldn’t be indignant with cries of “what the hell were you THINKING????” But if she walked through that door, right now, this minute, she’d be in my arms so fast her head would spin!

This young woman has a chance right now to do something her mother didn’t do, and that is to stand strong, forgive, and love her mother back to health. Chances are, her mother has aids or HIV and won’t be here long anyway. Put down the pride little girl, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
