Spire permanently installed on new WTC tower

NEW YORK The silver spire topping New York City's One World Trade Center has been fully installed on the building's roof.
It brings the iconic structure to its full, symbolic height of 1,776 feet. The addition makes the structure the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey says the spire's installation was completed Friday morning. Construction workers applauded the milestone.
Pieces of the spire (which weighs 758 tons) were transported to the roof of the building last week, but weather delayed its installation.
The building's height is symbolic of the year 1776, when the U.S. declared its independence.

I assume that what they're attaching the piece on the crane to the middle structure means the middle structure is the spire attached to the building and it will be complete with this piece on it. The piece with the flag on it.
It looks to me like the main part has decks every so many feet. Are they going to allows those as observation decks or are they for people to work on equipment installed there??

Yes, it does. I have no love or empathy for this building.
To me it represents a decade of victim carping, maneuvering, ‘inclusion’ and politicization that makes its worth to me moot.
I see it and it means nothing.

Nah. Minarets are fairly straight with a cupola on top.
I believe a HUGE hue and cry would go up if more people thought that, given the reason we’re building it in the first place.

I’m having a hard time getting excited about a “spire” that adds enough height to the building to be “significant”, since no one dared to create usable space in a building so high again because it wouldn’t be insurable due to a history of terrorist attacks.
They lowered the profile of the building while selling us on the significance of a symbolic height.
