The pieces of the puzzle fit. The rumors that Ambassador Stevens was in Benghazi to try and recover the MANPADS is one of the items that can't be proven, but it makes the rest of the case finally come into focus.
If the terrorists were supplied a large cache of surface-to-air missiles by the rebels (originally given them by the U.S.), then could the Pentagon, State Department and White House risk having an aircraft shot down by them?
There was no reason to believe that the Ambassador was dead until after the decision had been made not to send the planes in during the initial attack. The resumption of the attack at the CIA annex put them in a bind. If they sent planes in during the second phase of the attack, surely they would be questioned on why the planes weren't sent hours before. Plus, again, they may have lost an aircraft to terrorists using U.S. weapons.
All of the players would have known about the MANPADS. All of them would have recognized the political risk if it was revealed that the terrorists were using weapons that the Administration supplied to the rebels in Libya.
That is the only explanation I have for why they were adamant that they would not send help.
What if the MANPADS were actually the Soviet made ones from Ghaddafi’s arsenal, and were being run by Stevens through Turkey to Al Qaeda in Syria?
That would be treasonous.
And a reason big enough for infinite stonewalling and cover ups.
That is why the other 30+ people are being kept from congress. They knew what was going on. I pray those people are ok. But, someone must have their names besides the adminstration and state dept. Where are the family members?
It would have been impossible for “terrorists” to have used them since king hussein has declared them to no longer to exist. Kind of like “Mission Accomplished”.

It’s not like those kinds of missiles didn’t exist in Iraq or Afghanistan. Our forces are used to dealing with those things.
Bingo. Also explains why the terrorist attackers have never been pursued and exterminated, despite knowing who and where they are (or were). Benghazi was/is a Libyan weapons running conduit to Syrian anti-government forces- also to Gaza and being used against the Israelis. Not exactly a winning re-election activity that squared up with the “terrorism is defeated” narrative.
Of course he did, he hates America and is a demon-spawned Muslim devil that wants to eat babies.

I’m dismissing the threat, but I think combat pilots know the score.

I meant in the initial attack. Once the decision had been made not to send help during the initial phase, the decision to not send help at all had been made.
And I’m sorry that my opinions don’t live up high enough to overcome your sense of entitlement to be an asshole.
