It lets people know not to mess with you. As a female, that mat could deter a zombie - one that can read - and he would pass me by.
On the back of my locked bedroom door that a zombie would be looking at before trying to get into my bedroom, there is a gun range target of a man riddled by my bullets. A grouping in the chest, head, and crotch. I think a zombie would turn and go back downstairs and out of my house, rather than try to open that door.
