A man who tried to rob people standing in line to buy the new $180 LeBron James Nike sneakers was shot and killed by one of the customers, according to a story in the Atlanta Journal and Constitution.

The customers were waiting in line at an Atlanta area store early Saturday morning to be the first to get the newly released shoe when a man approached the group, pulled a gun and told them to give him their money.

A man who was in line pulled his own weapon and shot the would-be robber, killing him.

According to the story, the man who shot the would-be robber got back in line after he pulled the trigger.

Comment from one of the witnesses (who had been in line at the store) as reported in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

“He [the shooter] really stood up for all of us,” said Taylor White, who told Channel 2 that he was in line when the shooting happened. “I salute the homie that did that.”

Only in America can our poorest afford (or even want) a super ugly $180 shoe.

You’d be surprised how many of these things I see at yard sales for $3.00. They are nowhere near as impressive as people make them out to be. Same material as any other shoe.

Yeah, that kind of adds class to the whole incident in a certain funny kind of way. I wonder if the rest of the line formed a wide berth around the body.

Simple justice. Don't call the police, call a sanitation crew.

"According to the story, the man who shot the would-be robber got back in line after he pulled the trigger."

You'd think the crowd would've let him go to the front of the line for the public service he performed.
