The Bible pretty much lays it on the line. When the Bible speaks, it's God talking. Hard to argue with God.
Proverbs 11:10 - When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices, And when the wicked perish, there is glad shouting.
So, when Hitler, Stalin, Khadafi, Kim Il Sung, Hugo Chavez, Osama Bin Laden, Che Guevara, Arafat, Saddam Hussein, Peter Jennings and Helen Thomas died, a lot of folks rejoiced. And, many of us are waiting for others to pass on like ANY of the leftists who have turned this nation upside down morally and in every way. When God gets ready, the wicked perish. And, we must remember, he says in Romans 12 that "Vengeance is mine, I will repay...." and it is not for us to do anything to hasten the day of death for such evil leaders as we have now. God will take care of business when He gets ready. It is up to us to live morally, responsibly and to stand up for what is right and not cave to the interests trying to force false teaching and lifestyles upon us.
We do NOT have to give in to these demented protesters trying to rewrite moral law in regard to the Zimmerman case. And, God will deal with them. When they encourage their young to assault innocent people who very well may have no point of view at all on the matter for absolutely no other reason than to avenge the death of the criminal Trayvon Martin, then their young will die as well. Who in his or her right mind is going to stand there and just ALLOW a thug to beat them to death? Not very many. Justice served...by the moral laws of God.
Arafat passed real good. .. pfffffftttt
Mubarak and Sharon .. staying power
Helen Thomas is not on the same level of evil as Hitler and Stalin
Nor Peter Jennings.
And yet there is this Proverbs 24: 17-18:
17 Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, And do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles ; 18 Or the LORD will see it and be displeased , And turn His anger away from him.
Agreed. I won't say anything negative about the dead, so I'll just leave it at:
No, but the evil have willing handmaidens.
As sinners, we are all on the same level. God abhors all sin and despises it in equal measure. Were it not so, God would not have sent us a Savior to die to redeem all of it.
I didn't care for Helen Thomas. I don't care for Harry Reid or Barack Obama. But since God is not willing that any should perish, I will not condemn their sin as worse than any of my own.
This could also be interpreted as a simple statement of fact, not a recommendation. The propriety of a celebration would depend on the circumstances.
Absolutely no apologies or soft-peddling. Forgot to mention LBJ, Tip O’Neil and Teddy Kennedy. I’ll think of more later.
Exactly. Peter Jennings and Helen Thomas may have had major faults, but they are not mass murderers. There is no comparison.
Since Jesus came He told us to love our neighbors as ourselves. I don’t think these prayers are correct for us to pray...but sometimes one can’t help being relieved when we see justice served. Death means that soul will never have another chance to make things right with their Maker. It is sad.
Can we start here? How many translations from Greek to Latin, some Aramaic thrown in, then on to German, French and English after 2 millenia. I don't disparage faith but my status as a self-identified agnostic causes me to question it.
Both of them were advocates for some VERY evil people. Helen Thomas was in particular. No retraction. What has been said has been said.
Should have included Barney Frank, Fidel Castro, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and Farrakhan. Will think of more later.
She was just one of the high profile useful idiots that stalin spoke about.Hell just got even nastier, if that was possible.
Oh yes she was (she better be dead). ArrogantBustard put it correctly:
Her legacy: 49 years of lying, dissembling, carrying water for the demonicRAT party and pushing socialism, sodomy, abortion and gun-control. She was a whore for tyranny.
Believing what’s in the scriptures is obviously based on faith, although the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls have shown there have been virtually no changes since the over the past 2 thousand years.
There are sheep and there are sheepdogs. Sheepdogs hate all wolves equally.
Death to tyrants.
I would say that you should learn Hebrew, Greek, Latin, and Aramaic and translate it for yourself. Without faith the size of a mustard seed, you still won’t believe though.
Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord God: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?
"At 4 o'clock, all of the wicked shall be 2 feet tall. Oh yes, there will be glad shouting."
Peoples World is the flagship publication of Communist Party USA, and the successor publication to the Daily Worker. It recently carried back-to-back articles that were very revealing of a dubious but old tradition among the American left. To wit: Americas communists have always found alliesuseful idiots, dupesamong the liberal/progressive left, the mainstream Democratic Party, and (especially) the religious left. As to the latter, Im ever reminded of the words of the late Herb Romerstein, who told me: The religious left; they were the biggest suckers of them all.
Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
Proverbs 11:10 is an observation on human nature. As proverbs generally are. It is not a heavenly dictat.
There is absolutely nothing in the New Testament that would indicate Jesus celebrates in casting souls into hell.
There is endless fodder in the Old Testament for people that want the Bible to agree with their views, which is probably why we were given the New Testament.
Loving one’s enemies as yourself doesn’t leave a lot of wiggle room for rejoicing when they die in an evil state and are cast into hell.
Feelings of relief or justice are different issues.
None of them are my enemies. They have done nothing to me directly. But they were wicked. Now that they're gone and no longer an evil influence it is time for rejoicing.
Man that is a great attempt at splitting hairs!
Wise words, thanks for reminding me to keep perspective on things.
It's the truth. The ones mentioned were evil. Glad they're gone. No more influence. It's not my job to get rid of them, but still glad they're gone.
Well you go ahead and rejoice that people have perished I shall not be joining you!
Sheepdogs also have a love for their fellow man, we always have to be sure we ascertain our surroundings and other people with logic and love.
The original Greek (New Testament) and Hebrew (Old Testament) remain. You can read volumes and volumes of books on translation techniques. The best minds for two milennia have been translating the originals into whatever common tongue. If you don’t like their translations, you may always and certainly go to the originals and translate yourself. They are available.
God did not leave us without direction. He is not like that.
Yes, thank you. Today’s additions: Harry Reid, Chuck Schumer, Michael Bloomberg, Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, all ACLU members. :)
Not a problem. No rejoicing that people in general have perished, just the really evil ones. It removes their influence from life.
There is no problem with people dying and being happy that their influence is over here on earth but if to perish is the same as in John 3:16 then it is the opposite to having eternal life i.e. it is being cast into hell - all I can rejoice in is that God saved me from that same future.
I must say though, I admire your spirit :)
Good point. To continue the analogy... The sheep end up with contempt for the sheepdogs because the dogs remind them of the danger that’s out there and the existence of their own vulnerability.
It’s OK to discriminate against evil and stupidity.
...all enemies foreign and domestic, and so forth.
Maybe not your enemies specifically, but enemies of our Constitution and our republic.
when will the wicked perish, it seems like they have the upper hand at the moment
She did not live to be an ancestor. God has already punished her.
8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. II Peter 3:8-9
Good analogy continuance.
