LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) Syfys campy hit Sharknado, which set social media on fire when it premiered July 11, hit select theaters nationwide Friday for a one-night only midnight screening.
The director of the film, along with cast members Ian Ziering, John Heard and Tara Reid, were expected to show up for one of the screenings at downtowns L.A. Live to celebrate the TV movie about sharks falling from the sky.
Sharknado is just ridiculous enough, I think, that its exploding and its getting theatrical releases when even the film director didnt expect it, said film critic Witney Seibold, who believes theres a reason why so many people are talking about the low-budget film, and its the same reason why The Rocky Horror Picture Show is such a phenomena.
A movie like this is really, really strange, but theyre clearly coming from an honest place. The filmmakers are trying to give you something that they think is really, truly entertaining, he said.
honestly, its totally unwatchable. campy is fine and maybe watchable, this is just plain horribly bad. i couldnt get thru even 10 minutes.
rocky horror show it aint. just a horror show.
I tried....twice..I decided I’ll just not be “cool”.
Tara Reid looks like crap, years of booze and cigarettes have caught up to her in a big way.
The other night they were having a marathon of a bunch of absurd Shark disaster movies, I don’t know why the Syfy channel loves them so much. “Super Shark” had a better looking female lead.
The movie Idiocracy takes place in the year 2500. I don’t think it is going to take us that long to get there.
...I don't want to spoil the ending, but...
I agree...perhaps the figures were transposed...2050 should do it.
Excellent. I can show her that she and I have something in common. If she'll have me...
“Shuh up! I’m trine watch ‘ow my balls!’”
They do that every year to piggy-back on the Discovery Channel's Shark Week publicity.
Are you a eurotrash businessman? That seems to be her type according to wikipedia.
Is that why they made them in first place?
I guess some people must like them. All their original movies sound pretty lame to me.
SyFy’s shark movies are a deft vehicle for airing film of bikini clad young ladies.
In part. The real world doesn’t offer all that many scarey monsters.
80% of the world’s population lives within 200 ft of sea level.
Your odds of actually encountering a shark are vastly higher than a velocorapter, a giant snake, a house sized spider, zombies, evil space aliens, pirana, or even killer bees.
And picking on sharks is infinitely safer than picking on government agents...
Agreed... tried twice, couldn’t do it.
Googled Tara Reid pictures instead.
