It damn well better be a FREE upgrade for current Windows 8 sufferers.

I just recently upgraded to Pro to run 32gigs of ram. I'll wait for
"Windows Other" to come out in another three years before thinking about changing.

Maybe by then we'll all have flying cars.

I’ll still stick with Windows 7 for the foreseeable future, although I usually prefer to go with the latest versions.

They may have put back a Start button, but I really don’t want a touch screen or all those ugly, clunky substitutes for icons.

Is this an “upgrade” or just a free service pack? Although I was ticked off over the monstrosity that is Windows 8, if Microsoft tries to charge people an upgrade price for what is nothing more that a service pack I won’t be buying anything Microsoft again.

The word on the street is that Microsoft has teamed up with its Seattle neighbour Boeing, and that Windows 8.1 will be powering the navigational systems of the Dreamliner.

Windows 7 is excellent. It is stable, customizable, and combines intuitive usability that previous Windows promised but did not deliver on and good looks of Vista.

It comfortably runs most of XP programs I have (like Office 2003).
The only bad thing is that OE is gone and there are no other light weight mail programs out there!

Try Mozilla Thunderbird.

I've been using it for almost 5 years at work, and have had no problems.

Try Eudora OSE, I’ve been using it when I lost the ability to use Outlook Express.

It is able to maintain the saved email folder structure very well. I happen to keep almost every personal email that I have saved and I have organized them into separate folders based on senders name and type of mail such as purchases by sender or personal emails, or by various of information types.

I forgot to mention that I use a POP3 email server so I can keep all of my emails on my own personal machine and not out on the ‘cloud’ where they can be ‘accidentally’ released to the public. I appreciate my own security and since I rarely leave the house it is always available to me to look up previous discussions.

If necessary while I am away, I can use something like ‘MyPC’ to access my home computer. I also somewhat regularly backup my emails to my laptop so I can also retrieve past emails that way.

Windows XP served me well for about 8 years. In fact,it's still serving me in my clunker laptop.I expect my current 7 to serve me just as long. And then I'll be too old to remember my own name, let alone use a PC.
