Liberace was of the era that obeyed the one rule of show business: The show must go on.
She looks remarkably like Donna Summer.
I can’t stand to look at the guy, but Prince was a very serious musician, definitely had or maybe still has a lot talent, and produced some great music.
Now I’m going to that link.
But Sammy was a man who had literally grown up on stage, starting at about 2-3 years old, going around the Vaudeville circuit. He paid his dues hard, and the show did go on. Touring and gigs for the less than famous are never easy, but today they just don't seem to have the absolute ethic that the Vaudeville generation had.
One evening Lou Costello (of Abbott and Costello) was informed that his father passed away, right before he went onstage. Abbott and Costello went out, did their comedy routine flawlessly, and after the show, he grieved. But he never let it show onstage.
She’s the girl who got beat out by Bristol Palin on Dancing with the Stars - much to the wonderful consternation of liberals everywhere!
Back in the ‘80s I attended a taping of the Solid Gold show. (Latest music countdown with leggy dancers.)
Marilyn McCoo was the hostess and she came out and did her number. There were EIGHT of us in the audience and when she finished we all applauded and cheered, but it sounded like one of those weak Monty Python cheers in “Holy Grail”.
She came over to the edge of the stage, looked us in the eye, smiled, and thanked us. A class lady.
That’s something this “superstar” should have done, but then that would have been a class act.
Seven of us watched Jimmy Buffet play in his restaurant one afternoon in Key West. Regardless of his politics, you either love your work, or you don’t.
She could have done songs she would never have done in concert, or dangled her feet off the stage and sang with them.
Billy Joel has taken requests from the audience and the band has been game to go there with him.
You either see this stuff as an opportunity, or like another poster state, the fall’s going to be brutal.
A number of decades ago my brother went to an outdoor concert featuring Andy Williams in Indianapolis. When a downpour started most people left. The few that remained were invited onto the covered stage by Andy Williams. He proceeded to perform the concert without sound equipment. My brother has said it was far above any concert he has been to before or since.
Spoiled, self centered "stars" get angry when they think they have been "dissed". True entertainers enjoy sharing their gifts and love the happiness they bring others through performing.
Imagine the press Bratty would have received if she had done what Andy Williams did.
But... but... she has "the greatest love of all"! (*ahem* Just like Whitney Huston)
And he can kick Charlie Murphy’s a$$ in basketball too!
