California’s great gun grab: State’s sweeping gun control bills target firearms, ammo — and hunting
WASHINGTON TIMES ^

Breaking new ground in the state-level battle over firearms, the Democratic-dominated California state legislature has taken gun control into uncharted territory with a flurry of new bills that target not just firearms and ammunition, but also recreational hunting.

Among the dozen gun-control bills sitting on California Gov. Jerry Brown’s desk are measures that would outlaw lead ammunition for hunting as well as common types of hunting rifles under the umbrella of an assault-weapons ban. Taken together, the measures go far beyond the efforts that have inspired a sharp backlash and political battles in states such as Connecticut and Colorado.

To put the lead bill in context, about 95 percent of all ammunition sold in California contains lead. The alternative is metal bullets, some of which can pierce police armor and are banned by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. Critics say the bill would effectively end hunting as a sport in California.

“If California outlaws lead bullets, the federal government already outlaws everything else, so there’s nothing left for hunters to use,” said California Assemblyman Brian Jones, a Republican from Santee. “It basically outlaws hunting.”

They allowed this to happen there...

As a proud Californian, I call 'racism!', mate. If you think all of the state thinks just the way the elite liberal snobs currently in power do, you are sadly mistaken.

As well as being racist against Californians.

Some of us were simply too trusting of the liberals, rather like 0dumdu trusts islamists. We simply did not know that it is within their credo that lying to non-libs is perfectly acceptable as long as it furthers their ultimate goal.

Rather like seatbelt laws. They swore up and down that if we only passed the law that not only would the amount of vehicle fatalities practically disappear, they would NEVER use simply not wearing a seatbelt as a reason for pulling someone over.

They lied.

The moving van comes in about a week and we are out of CA. Hate to leave the weather and our friends, but it is time.
We live in a really nice neighborhood, but the property crimes are becoming a frequent occurrence. As you get older you can’t handle that.
Just too many illegals looking for a way to make some money by thieving.

Hmmm. My first thought upon reading your post was that you must have cross-posted, as yours was rather specific and not completely within what the thread was started about.

Then I thought, right, then, it shows one way to get past some of the governmental rigamarole, so plus points for that.

Then the next thought was... ehrmmm, mate: I don't have access to a CNC mill, and know of few others that do. Quite few, actually. Perhaps a link to a source where dirt-cheap machining tools such as lathes mills and benders or at the very least drill presses and Dremel bits would be a quiet and subtle way to point out some options...

Of course not. Problem is that as California fails, far more leftscum than conservatives move from there to other states and then foul their new homes. See Colorado and Arizona for examples.

But you knew that, and my comment you responded to was not well stated. So peace, my fellow Freeper.

“Solution: Texas”

We have a simple entrance exam. We stop them at the border and offer them a steak or a chicken salad. If they choose the salad, we send them back.

I guess they gave me credit for my previous residency at Fort Hood, because I missed that test.

Are you saying we owe you a steak?

So tell me again how many NRA members vote for Democrats because it is all about hunting?

In my experience, when an NRA member votes democrat, it has more to do with their union affiliation than anything else. I know some union members that still vote Republican however. That being said, this is a clear example of what “reasonable common sense measures” really mean to the leftists and we should throw this in their face every time they use the words “reasonable” and “common sense” to justify their gun grabbing antics. this is an end to that argument as far as I’m concerned.

Exactly!

We see how they act if they have total power, all guns are going to be taken away, not just 'assault weapons'.

Being law abiding, hunters will comply with the ban. But the gangbangers and all the other bad guys will easily get their ammo via the black market. The democrats know this which tells you what really inspires them. It's nothing practical, but rather a hatred of traditional, law abiding American gun culture, which is the spiciest part of American liberty culture. The left simply cannot stand the idea of anyone wanting freedom from the State.

It’s their little way of screwing Republicans and it’s for this reason that I have ZERO problem with harsh mandatory prison sentences for first time drug offenders. Lock ‘em up.

Exactly. Whar’s frustrating is that it takes something like this for people to see what these people are really about.

California has become such a socialist cesspool that those with sanity have moved out of the state. What is left are mindless zombies barely able to say their lines before the movie cameras or anything else.

When will California wake up and understand that it is not guns that are the most dangerous weapon. It is the mind that is the most dangerous weapon. Just look at what California’s zombies are doing to make life in California a cesspool.

Don’t park at the gun store. Park a block away and walk. CA will have agents monitoring gun stores looking for CA plates.

As I recall, it isn’t solid blue....just enough of a majority to get their way. If you look at the red/blue situation on a map re: voting, the blues are all the coastlines, bays, larger urban areas, etc. Reds are the places where the coastal libs couldn’t survive, i.e., inland and up in the high desert areas. Good people for the most part in those areas as I recall.....
