World's oldest wrestler, Angelo Savoldi, passes away (age 99)

Angelo Savoldi, believed to be the world's oldest living pro wrestler, passed away today at the age of 99.

Savoldi dated back to the 1930s and wrestled into the 60s.

Typically, “world’s oldest living ——— “ is not a really good thing for one’s future.

The article says he wrestled until the 1960s, but I remember seeing him wrestle for the then-WWWF in the early 70s. (I did not know he owned a piece of the company.) At that time, they always referred to him as “the veteran from Parsippany, New Jersey.” He was basically a worker at that point, jobbing for whatever new heel had recently entered the territory. I can recall seeing him in person on one card at the old Philadelphia Arena in West Philly. He was part of a 30 man “Battle Royal.” He looked like he was having himself a good time in the ring that day.
