Posted on 09/22/2013 9:03:59 AM PDT by My Favorite Headache
Anyone know why Matt Drudge has ignored the Kenyan mall massacre that is going on still at this hour? He has updated with other stories but has not once posted a single link to this on-going nightmare going on in Kenya. I find this very odd and can't think of a reason why he would be ignoring it?
He had it as his headline all day yesterday.
... because the story has only gotten worse/bigger since yesterday.
When he wakes up he might
Drudge doesn’t choose most of the stories any more. Joe Curl does.
Don’t know, but it’s the exception that proves the rule—there’s very little that’s newsy that Drudge doesn’t catch. Probably will be up by tomorrow.
What I love is that he’s got Palin’s defense of Cruz on Obamacare above the title in big font, and he also has Cruz’s Sunday AM appearance covered.
In that sense, he’s got his priorities perfectly in order IMO.
Yeah, of course you’re right. Forgot that.
So the Drudgereport is now Curling?
Yes. Curl runs the show now.
I refreshed his page a bunch of times yesterday and only saw the hurricane on it.
Serious...I am on the page right now and the headline I see is Palin Bombs Away and the hurricane story moved to the left side of the page. Not one story in the links below about Kenya and didn’t see any yesterday and I have cleared out the cache and refreshed just to see if it was my computer but my cell phone is showing the exact same thing.
With American and Canadians being killed, you would think the media would want to carry this.
An American diplomats wife was apparently killed
The only thing I saw was a hurricane headed for Hong Kong.
“He had it as his headline all day yesterday.”
Not where I am — I refresh often, but the headline was the typhoon, the Kenya terror attack wasn’t even mentioned — still isn’t.
Someone else made a comment on one of the threads yesterday about Drudge’s lack of coverage of this Breaking News.
I guess terrorists killing non-Muslims and holding them hostage is not sufficiently important for Drudge, but someone peeing on vegetables in a grocery store, is important news.
At this rate he is going to lose a large number of his readership...
And an on-going hostage situation....I can’t stand “cable news” channels on the weekends and their B crew and canned programming. I refuse to turn on Al Jazeera or Russia Today to watch the one sided programming either.
“I refreshed his page a bunch of times yesterday and only saw the hurricane on it.”
Me too. Nothing on the terrorist attack in Kenya.
Probably because the headline didn’t get many hits. Black on Black crime whether in Chicago or Nairobi isn’t news any more. Same for Muslim vs Muslim bombings....
Kenya TV feed
Not in English of course
He or his crew was quick to post about the Christian killings this morning at the church by the terrorists and he has been sprinkling stories about how long Earth is going to last etc...but not one single story on this huge story. I just am lost about this one.
I don’t know BBC world news and Al Jazeera America been cover it more
I been watch those news network more too
Maybe for the same reason Americans yawn about various African genocidal slaughters.
The soft bigotry of low expectations.
So what does Drudge do?
Obviously a conspiracy.
You nailed it. If Natalee Holloway was in that mall it would be all over cable news.
Yeah, I’m just perplexed by the silence of Drudge on the Kenya mall shooting. During my work day, I usually try to check Drudge on my phone once or twice just to keep myself apprised of anything interesting or breaking news. Imagine my surprise when the day ended and I had time to check other sources, and there was this HUGE story about mass killings, including dead Americans, that Drudge ignored.
Days later, and he’s still ignoring the story. At this point it goes beyond “we didn’t think it was newsworthy” to being downright suspicious, as if there’s some reason he doesn’t WANT it to be covered more prominently.
I don’t buy the idea that he’s not putting up links to it because it’s being well covered everywhere else. Since when has that ever stopped Drudge (or Curl) from linking to big breaking news stories?
The fact that it *did* show up at the very outset (I missed it, but saw it in the archive) and was quickly removed is telling. Normally a Drudge headline gets bumped down when something bigger comes along, but that original link is still there on the right column for a couple days. And especially with breaking stories, there are updates to the original story, and links to other news sources with different angles, etc.
This is the kind of story I would have expected to be on Drudge, and it’s not. That’s VERY weird. I’ve lost a lot of trust and respect for Drudge based on this experience.
Also some coverage on Israeli TV (in English)
Kenya TV with coverage
Then there's that. :-)
You must be trying really hard not to see because I’ve been getting tweets from him about it since it started.
No, he did not have it as a headline all day yesterday; he had that big storm near Asia as his headline all day.
He’s always been tabloidish...if it is negative, then it’s up. So I am surprised...
Anything with “Kenya” in it is filtered as possible birther stuff, and this of course is verboten on Drudge, as in virtually all other media in the USA.
Speaking of Israel 24 they may be cover to the US very soon they are in talk to with Verzion FIOS and others to carry their news channel
Probably in 2014 maybe in mid part of 2014
I do watch Israel 24 on live stream sometime
That would be better than watching CCTV4 out of commie China
If this archive is correct, my memory was correct (look in the right-hand column), but I wonder if the Kenya story was ever especially prominent there. It's not there now.
“So what does Drudge do?”
He does very little on weekends.
the only headline I saw there all day yesterday was about the typhoon hitting China
I think what we all need to know is how this terrorist group got its weapons.
Because it’s the weekend. The “A” team is not on duty.
The Chinese intern is probably working, hence the hon kong headline. (They are getting their Katrina standing headlines and dusting them off.)
Anything with Kenya in it is filtered as possible birther stuff, and this of course is verboten on Drudge, as in virtually all other media in the USA.
He has much Birther news on his site for years...so doubt if Kenya is a verboten word.
Wonder if he has been threatened by Islamic Terrorists from CAIR, or other Islamic Terrorist Groups? That would be suspicion #1
Send them a news tip. 2/3rds of the way down and on the right.
He did have it yesterday. I woke up to the headline around 5am PST. Then the HK storm bumped it, now it’s completely gone from the page. Strange.
It’s been gone for 24 plus hours with no mention of it...again...this is an unfolding big story with hostages and Hong Kong was taken out of the danger zone with this typhoon about 20 hrs ago when they realized it was going to pass 100 miles to the East. I love weather stories as much as the next guy but Kenya is big important news.
His tweets are not read by the tens of millions who log on to his main page every day and hour.
LOL...Bastardi nailed it...he said it would go inland ENE of Hong Kong. Right on the money, Joe.
Yes — I know that Drudge news is slow on weekends. I guess if something big was up, it would be popping, but it does seem as tho everyday has popping news — even on the weekends.
“Days later, and hes still ignoring the story. At this point it goes beyond we didnt think it was newsworthy to being downright suspicious, as if theres some reason he doesnt WANT it to be covered more prominently.”
I am with you on this one — maybe he got a note from someone warning him to not “hype” terrorist activities, or else.... There is no way he would miss this.
