No electronic alarm system will take chunk out of the ass of an intruder like mine can and will.

Both of my dogs weigh over 100 pounds and when they bark it scares me and I am the owner....

At one point in my life, I had four dogs and I lived across the street from a meth lab. Had very little trouble with those people. (They finally all got arrested and carted of.) I believe to this day that I hadn’t suffered a home invasion because of those wonderful pets!

One is a german Shepard husky sled dog looking thing. The other is a lab doberman mix. Both mutts and both can get real pissed off when they want to. Their combined bark will put the fear in anyone. When they are barking at a stranger or something they are not familiar with it is a bark like they are mad they cant get at you. I keep them in the house. Oddly they love children....

I’ve always kept mine in the house because where I needed the protection of a warning was inside, not out. When they alarmed I used to lock the dogs IN the house and then patrol the perimeter myself. If the dogs had attacked anyone, they’re the ones who would have been punished by being quarantined or euthanized. Granted, they were all mixed breeds but terrific, bright and loyal. Since one does not allow one’s good buddies to be sentenced to death unnecessarily, I’d be the one to go out.. I become extremely irritable when any member of my family might get hurt. It worked well.

“tyrants generally dislike cats.”

I expect that’s ‘cause tyrants can’t control cats.

Regarding #32.

If you’re both alive, he is.

I suspect the other strawmen ‘tyrants who hated cats’ are probably myths, too.

Oddly enough, when researching this alleged “fact”, I only found it being parroted in liberal forums, usually associated with some conservative who they hoped to smear.

And then there’s

So, no, those who do not worship at the cat altar are *not* closeted dictators and to imply such was quite a reckless, wanton thing to do, IMO.

Oddly enough, legend has Muhammad firmly as a cat person, to the extent he cut the sleeve off a garment rather than disturb his cat who was sleeping on it.

The first mention of it I ever saw was in the humor book, How To Live With A Neurotic Cat (1985).

But one source about Napoleon is Carl Van Vechten, who wrote The Tiger in the House in 1922.

“Probably the most celebrated ailurophobe in history was Napoleon. According to a popular legend, not long after the battle of Wagram and the second occupation of Vienna by the French, an aide-de-camp of the Corsican, who at the time occupied, together with his suite, the Palace of Schönbrunn, was proceeding to bed at an unusually late hour when, on passing the door of Napoleon’s bedroom, he was surprised to hear a most singular noise and repeated calls for assistance from the Emperor.

“Opening the door hastily, and rushing into the room, he saw the greatest soldier of the age, half undressed, his countenance agitated, beaded drops of perspiration standing on his brow, making frequent and convulsive lunges with his sword through the tapestry that lined the walls, behind which a cat had secreted herself. Madame Junot was aware of this weakness and is reported to have gained an important political advantage over the Little Corporal merely by mentioning a cat at the right moment.”

Importantly, this indicates that Napoleon was not a cat hater as much as a cat phobic.

My tortoise was not a close cat for years. Eventually she would lie nearby on the couch and hold paws. After about 10 years of that she sleeps on top of me mostly because she sleeps a lot and wants to stay warm but also make sure I don’t try to go outside without her.

I have yet to hear of a cat ripping someone to shreds within an inch of his life, if not killing.

That doesn’t sound very Christian to me.

But that is more Judeaism.

Which one is more Christian in his attitude? The dog or the cat?

My mother in law has dementia. When we have her at out house, Martin the cat ignores her. Rufus the dog (Standard Poodle) sits by her side constantly. He looks at her with sympathy, as though he knows something is not right, and somehow knows he needs to be by her side when she is with us.

You can see it in the eyes

Cats have their place here on the farm, dogs have their place.
Love them both and they both love me.
