Interesting. Thanks for the clarification and for an insight into Jewish thought on the matter.

For what it’s worth, I think that the fact that the passage in Romans that I quoted was written by a former Pharisee (Saul of Tarsus) might give an insight into what the contemporary rabbinical views on the subject were at that point in time.

It's not that they pretended that it didn't happen, it's just it was not wide spread at the time as male homosexuality.
There are many terms in the bible that are seemingly directed just at men, but God intended it for women to.
I would expect that God intended to use our brains and know that his condemnation of male homosexuality also meant female homosexuality.

But if G-d is closed mouthed about it, what we have is human intuition getting at what G-d intends. Which is all well and good, we should try. It just ain’t directly from The Man Hisself.

Exactly.

That’s what I’m getting at.

But it is passing curious how specifically the male homosexual act is condemned, and how the chicks get a pass. At least explicitly.

Interesting.

Yup. The Rabbinate was VERY BUSY making up all sorts of rules that just aren’t there. Kinda like bureaucrats who have to justify their positions making up even more arcane rules. If you try to live up to all those rules (written while mainly in Alexandria, IIRC), you’ll go nuts.

On the other hand, looking at the rules that are ACTUALLY THERE is pretty amazing. The rules on eating are very specific. Locusts are edible, but grasshoppers not (or vice versa, I forget because I choose to eat neither). And so on, species by species.

Not true of all the ones I know about. Several years ago a man in my choir moved. He got up in front of the new choir and told them he was a homo. He was kicked out of choir/church that day.

And bishop of what church. Southern Baptists do not have them or none do where I have gone.

exactly

Anyone can start a church and slap the “Baptist” label on it.

Doesn’t mean it bears any resemblance to a real Baptist church

I have the church minutes from the early 1800’s where my ancestors went. Boy, they kicked people out of the church for many “sins”. It was very interesting.

38 It sounds more like a independent Baptist church that took that name..... Baptist in name only. BINOS...

Could be any 1 of the following ...

National Baptist - U.S.A.
National Baptist – America
American Baptist Churches USA
Progressive National Baptist
Alliance of Baptists

Jesus declared all foods clean, noting the hypocrisy of those who followed the letter of the law in public but still lived in sin. He never declared homosexuality wasn’t a sin.

There are M.B. churches near my hometown in MS. They are Black. I do not know much about them and think it stands for Missionary Baptist but could be wrong.

I'm sure your right, but my neighbor is allowing a 27 yo mother of 3 to live with her while she is on probation. She gave her pastor a lil sumpin sumpin and thought he owed her a lil sumpin from the collection plate so she stole a check from the church and filled it out for $5k and signed the pastor's name figgering he wouldn't say anything.

He said something. She has til November some odd to give it back or go to jail for, I think 18 months or so. My neighbor took her in and got her a job to help with the money. She is relying on her uncle to help with the rest of the money but he raped her as a child and he's trying to get her to move in with him but she isn't allowed to live with felon, which he is along with being a deacon in said church. I could go into more detail about where her other kids are and talk about how no 2 of them have the same daddy, but it gets boring after awhile. She goes to church every Sunday.

I'm sure it happens everywhere as I know a Baptist preacher that gave personal counseling to a lady and then was sued for some unnamed abuse. Another Baptist preacher ran off with the piano player and left his wife and kids. His wife was cute as a button and the piano player was homely.

All this in a town of 2500.

I was going to say the exact same thing. Men belong in the clergy and not women. It is a position of sacred authority and belongs to men.

By the way, I am a woman.
