Perhaps not. The things you see passing by when you're flying on the deck at high speed are already well behind you by the time they register in your brain. It was likely lights out for his rational mind, his spirit standing next to the ball of fire wondering why the light around him seemed so peculiar, why he could feel the terror of the other drivers witnessing the accident.
