I had just gotten out of the shower, and was getting dressed for work, when I heard a loud explosion. I looked out the window and saw a large plume of smoke.
I went out with my digital camera and recorded the video I posted on my YouTube channel. I don't know what exploded yet, and I don't have time to check because it is almost time for me to start the job. I'll probably find out later what happened.
The video is HERE or at the link above.
Haha - My neighbor and a visitor of his decided to do some “trap” shooting a couple days ago: No mechanized “thrower”, just one guy tossing the clay pigeons out (pretty good arm, I’d say) and the other blasting away with his 12 ga. (This in an area where, with some variation, the avg. distance from house to house is probably around 300-400 ft.) This went on for about an hour or so. I was outside working on a gutter — sorta keeps you on your toes, as if falling ~20 ft. off the ladder isn’t enough.
Standard decorum advises that the obligatory shower should follow the ambiguous personal news report.
I wasn’t being serious, although the short excerpt did mention a Blythe “Street”.
I think most of us know ‘someone’ from Fresno.
:)
That’s in the neighborhood of Blyth airport and Twenty-nine palms EAF.
are you talking like yoda or did my egg nog turn?
lol
I had some formatting/html issues.
You’re safe to add another shot of bourbon to your egg nog.
did you put your clothes on before you went out to film? where there any startled people looking at you while you were filming?
It seemed like mostly white smoke. A plane or home fire/blast one would think would be more black, especially a plane fire.
While I was walking the dogs before starting work, I noticed a second black smoke plume, with visible flames, about 1/4 mile or so north of the original smoke plume. I’ll be working now so I won’t be able to follow up further until after I finish work about 0330 local.
Im at .30 or so now.
Happy New Year!
Thanks for the post and the info in the first post. Very big explosion, nothing on news sites yet.
Why would the Russians care about this? What don’t I know?
You would know where Neil was if you weren’t such a newbie!
Interesting logistics fighting a fire if it’s north of town. There’s a volunteer agency nearby, Blythe Fire, I think CalFire has a small station there, then maybe Quartzsite would come over and Parker might come down. Not exactly a wealth of suppression resources there.
Then again, they’re not likely to have other things going on...

Alas, the computer was blown up five minutes before it had completed its task.
Ongoing Gopher Removal Operation
Kinda harsh....
I’m pretty sure it’s just Walter and Jesse making meth in the desert again.
