I’d love to get my hands on the sideboard, china hutch, and that dressing table...

Reminds me of the woman in Empty Mansions, a wonderful read!

If that’s the way it looked when she left, she’s either a bad housekeeper or a hoarder.........

In 1942, the Germans and their collaborative French hosts were raping pillaging and plundering Parisians. Her apartment might have been a scene she would rather forget.

Also Porky Pig! Like another above mentioned, the nature of that room makes me want to know more about the Lady who rented it for so many years.

As a writer, I am mentally constructing a tragic story where she had that apartment as an 'entertaining' spot for a much beloved man (or woman) whom she never saw again due to the war, so she could not bear to enter the room again but could not bring herself to end the connections.

I wonder what the monthly rent was when she was still living there and what it is today. I’m guessing an apartment like that in Paris today would be considerable.

yes, I saw Porky, too. Interesting contrast to the heavy Louis XIV antiques.

You are clearly a romantic with your envisioned war romance story. As a cynical former New Yorker, I figured she had a “rent controlled” apartment and couldn’t afford NOT to continue paying its rent. For 68 years, no less! I wonder if she let others use it over those years? Gotta be a fascinating story there. Hope we learn it.

“Madame de Florian continued paying the rent until her death in 2010 at the age of 91. Despite paying the rent, she never returned.”

Amazing both the treasures and that she never went back in all those years...

Thanks for posting this.

All of the furniture from the time period remained just how she left it. It looks as if she was just there yesterday.

If this is so, she must've liked living in squalor. What a mess! (a priceless mess now, but still...)

Weird when the same story shows up on FR as on my design blogs.

Intriguing theory. If you ever write it, I’d love to read it. :-)
