Complete Headline: Here comes polar vortex TWO: Just when you thought it was safe to go outside... another blast of Arctic air to hit US next week
If you live in the American Midwest or East Coast, you may want to hold off on putting away your winter gear.
Just as temperatures are beginning to warm in much of the U.S, another arctic blast in the form of a polar vortex appears to be on the horizon.
The upcoming front of icy temperatures is expected to bring arctic air to southern Canada and then move into the northern plains of the U.S. before moving to the Midwest and East Coast - each of which is still recovering from last week's frigid temperatures.

This wouldn't have happened if you would have let us enact a carbon tax!
Thunder yesterday in central Virginia. Thunder in January? Next week the arctic climate returns. Crazy.
The polar bearnado is a nice touch.
Burrr!!! This keeps up and I’m adding anti-freeze to my diet.
Changes global warming to climate change just in time
Well I heard Ted Cruz say something to the effect that he heard Obama say that he wouldn’t repeal Obamacare unless hell freezes over and then the week after we got all of these arctic blasts...lol
Thunderstorms in southern NC yesterday, water over the roads. One of our NC posters said she saw a tornado.
It looks like we’ll have a few days for the floods to subside before the next thing hits.
I guess weather.com didn’t get the word.
Predicted highs to the next five days:
This is the NYC forecast.
I actually heard a stupid “educated” liberal say that global warming is what caused the arctic blastswe’re having lately. Did I respond. No. The obvious stupidity hanging in the air and the silence that followed told me he realized what an idiot he was for saying it. These liberals...I don’t think.they think things through to their full conclusions very often...its fun when a liberal outstupids himself...
Why would anyone be putting away their winter gear? It’s the middle of January for Pete’s sake!!!
Last week Sunday it was a cold snap, temps and wind chill
-15. Today Sunday in Chicago a BALMY 45 degrees!
I’ll take it!!!
lol...exactly. I check the Farmer’s Almanac and they predicted a very cold winter. I read that back in September, which prompted me to get the roof replacement scheduled in October and completed in November. It IS Winter, after all.
The GOOD news? For me, at least, the daylight these days is noticeably longer. :-)
Cold in January? Who’d a thought.
They say it will not be as bad as before. We’ll see?
Good Morning and yes with liberals talking the LOL never cease.
All y’need is Charlton Heston in a parka, slamming the ground with his fists ... “You ASSholes !”
If you add it up, we've (sw Pa) had about two weeks of winter, so far.
Because people in the Midwest are so accustomed to putting away their cold weather gear at the beginning of January....
I still think it should be called a “Polar Haboob”, in that, using the anti-logic of the global warmingists, it is “just like a dust storm, but without all that dust, and colder.”
there, fixed it.
I’ll drink to that.
What’s the equivalent of a visual Kodak moment for an intellectual face ground? Brian fart doesn’t cover it.
If you don't keep it up your wife will be adding it to your diet.
Polar Vortex II: The Thrill of the Chill.
Big thunder yesterday here on Long Island.
Somebody wants to get those terms “Polar Vortex” into everyday lexicon.
Got to hand it to the left to come up with catchy phrases.
The interesting thing about the weather is that it’s always been around, and it’s always going to be around and in March, June, September and December equinoxes will occur, just like they have since this globe started spinning. They will occur long after humankind has disappeared from this earth just like they did before humankind arrived, and it’s the creator who has determined these seasons and Al Gore and all of his minions can huff and puff all they want. They are not in charge.
Where and what is that?
Just wait for ‘equatorial vortex’ later this year.
Joe Bastardi agrees (great rant at the end of this clip, BTW).
The wife-unit and I were hanging a picture in the foyer yesterday. and a rumble started outside behind the house...really shook the house. I looked towards the back of the house just as a huge boom went off in front of the house. Scared the shinola out of both of us. My first thought was an airliner had gone down.
There was just that one thunder-boomer. Really odd.
I saw lightning and thunder in Boston yesterday. On January 11.
There were several big booms here near Charlotte, went on for 15 minutes or so. At least all this precip didn’t come down as snow, or we’d be hip-deep.
The Polar Vortex is RACIST!
Aren’t February and March usually the coldest months?
Those jugheads were putting away their "winter gear" in January? No wonder they're freezing to death. Not very bright. Somebody needs to purchase a calendar.
Appreciate the tip, hub. But winter is just 3 weeks old; we have 9 weeks to go. I'll wait to see what Mr. Punxsutawney has to say about this in 11 days.
And yes I’ve worn a winter jacket to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in early May, LOL.
Thanks. Having lived in the Midwest most of my life, I needed a British newspaper to tell me that it was probably ill-advised to expect a heat wave in January.
We used to call it the "January Cold Snap." Often followed by the "February Cold Snap." But that was in the days before Al Gore ...
I’ve known about the polar vortex for many years.
I call it by another name, though.
Intellicast's historic averages page lists the lowest temperature days in Dayton, Ohio as January 19-22. On average January is the coldest month followed by February and December.
Oh yeah, because here in Michigan we always put away our winter gear in the middle of January....
January seems to be the coldest month here in se Wisconsin. February is cold and snowy too, but you start to see signs, although subtle (more sunshine, snow melt), that the weather is going to change. In March, temps begin to moderate gradually throughout the month.
Doesn’t winter clothing start going on clearance in January? Walmart is already starting to get gardening supplies out (seeds, starter kits).
