Fox News host Bill O’Reilly says the “pinheads” in the Republican Party should stop opposing the minimum wage.

“The Republican Party should really wise up and stop opposing raising the minimum wage. It should be 10 bucks an hour” to keep employers from exploiting workers, O'Reilly said Wednesday during his opening “Talking Points Memo” segment of his TV show.

O’Reilly said his proposed $10 an hour minimum wage would apply only to adults. Teenagers just beginning their careers should be paid on a lower scale, he said.

“The GOP needs to stop working against working people,” O”Reilly said. …

I saw the debate, BOR had my blood boiling, but Kate Obenshain was doing her best to give BOR both barrels. I think BOR was a bit shocked for no other reason he didn’t cut her of which is his MO.

So you’re with Obama on this?

My point is neither party gives a damn about the average American. With the export of jobs, and the import of cheap labor to do the jobs that can't be exported, both parties are screwing us. Normally I don't think we need a minimum wage. If we got rid of illegals, and reduced legal immigration, the labor market would dictate a wage of more than $10 hr. And in a normal market, if you don't pay someone enough to survive, nobody will work for you. But now you don't need to earn enough to live on, because you can get food stamps, Medicaid, Section 8, Earned Income Tax Credit, etc. Of course the Chamber of Commerce types love that too, so don't expect any of it to change. So, since we aren't in a normal labor market I'm not against some kind of minimum wage.

Billy is not inclined to listen to or learn from others, but, just in case:

Title VII of the ADEA and the ADA prohibit compensation discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, or disability.

Turned off O Reilly many moons ago, then watched him last night. He goes on this kick with the min wage.

Had you heard him you would have thrown your shoe at the TV. He had Kristin Powers agreeing with him and did not interrupt her once, when the conservative woman offered a sensible response, he shouted her down constantly.

For example, she tried to calmly explain to him that Bill Gates of all people Is against the min wage. He began to shout her down so you couldn’t hear her. She fought back and said Gates says accurately, raising the minimum wage forces companies to automate those entering jobs. Therefore people are put out of work.

Hey, Bill why not have Dr Sowell on there to explain to you, in clear terms why the min wage hurts workers.

O Reilly did the same thing a few years back saying we needed to support Ethanol subsidies.

Look for his interview with Obama to be a complete joke and a tenth of what some guy like Russert would do with Obama. I’m sure Obama has all the questions ahead of time, and O Reilly is told to be kind.

“Would you buy a burger cooked by a robot?”

Absolutely. A robot wouldn’t spit on my burger or pizza.

Cavuto has the best Common Sense segments at the end of his shows. He sounds just like a Tea Party guy in his Common Sense comments.

Then he lets McCain dish the Tea Party and practically dismisses Ted Cruz. I don’t get it. Must be a FOX directive.

Bill, you have no shame.

Your only focus is increasing your viewership.

Your motivations are no different that the VOTE BUYING POLITICIANS.

Less than 20% of those on minimum wage are heads of households.

Increasing it DESTROYS JOBS.

Bill Ego-Rielly is an idiot who thinks he’s smarter than everyone. The gop should do what HE tells them to do. How smart is he? He says to give adults $10 an hour but leave teens at $7 an hour. I wonder how many adults would be hired at McDonald’s under that proposal. Man, is he stupid!

Yesterday, Romney did say a smart thing. The Republicans should tie the minimum wage to the COLA. I say it should be tied to both the inflationary and deflationary indexes. That seems fair.
What is the problem we’re trying to solve? Is it the economy - or is it the fact that Democrats demagogue the “minimum wage?" Strictly as a political matter, indexing would, theoretically, take the “minimum wage" off the table. But only theoretically, since in reality there is no way you can prevent complainers from demanding “more.”

“Minimum wage” belongs in scare quotes because it is actually a productivity threshold rule for employers. No one who can’t find an employer who considers his/her time to be worth the “minimum wage” gets a job at all.

Thomas Sowell favored the “minimum wage” in his callow youth - but ultimately he analyzed its actual effect. And then he looked at history, and found out that its actual effect was indeed its intended effect - namely, to price less skilled blacks out of the job market, keeping them from competing with whites for jobs.

In reality it was started explicitly as anti-black legislation. And the “beauty” of it - from the Democrat political perspective - is that it tickles the fancy of the very people whose prospects it subverts.

Was Dr. Sowell referring to minimum wage or the Davis-Bacon Act?
That act was in effect, along with the Unions, to keep non skilled labor out of the Job market OR at least make non-union Companies pay almost twice the rate they would normally get paid.

Back in 76 for the Bicentennial era, I was doing a job at Dulles Airport. Part of the airport is in Loudon County, part in Fairfax and we were allowed to pay the prevailing wage. On the Federal portion of the contract, we had to pay per Davis Bacon.

I actually threatened to quit as the Company I was working for wanted to mix part of the ‘local’ work with the ‘Federal’ work.
I think one of the ‘problems’ was that we were already paying more than what we were ‘required’ to according to Fairfax and Loudon County SO, the solution for the owners was if we had to pay the Davis Bacon rate, that we would cut the pay to Fairfax and Loudon rates...(or something equally as bizarre)

I just flat told them I wasn’t going to waste an hour a day and 3 hours on payday explaining why the crews were getting three different pay scales, for virtually doing the exact same work at the same time.

Sorry, even back in the 60’s/70’s, you had people in the labor pool that couldn’t spell cat if you ‘gave’ them the K and A BUT could pretty much tell you their check was short 2 dollars on payday and even knew when they ‘crossed’ that imaginary line for pay scales.

I watched Bill O’Reilly trying to bait his guest by spouting the usual MSNBC Socialist Logic.

Billy-O even did his trademark ‘shout down the guest whenever the show needs more Liberal viewers’ shuffle and jive routine.

Billy O’s rude treatment of guests has made his show the most popular TV show with Liberal views for over 10 years now.

It was such a convincing Liberal performance by Billy-O that he convinced me that there is truth to the rumor that Billy-O is leaving FOX to replace Mr. Ed, “The Shouting Socialist,” on MSNBC.

He and Chrissey Mathews could then nightly compete for the best Rude Irish Shout Downer.

Anybody on FR know of a single good reason to watch The Billy-O TV Show ever again?

My remedy is to turn on Cavuto. He’s on FBN at the same time. Much better show. I wish the Factor would just “move along”....

Pretty soon they’ll make more burgers than that by replacing workers with robots.

Then for every twenty fast-food workers currently employed, there will be only one $20 per hour robotics technician needed, and a 2 or 3 person cleaning crew. Bye-bye to 16 or 17 jobs!

Unions are useless to the average worker but gold mines to the corrupt DemocRAT Party.

Because there's nothing democratic about it.
