I also enjoyed Woody Allen’s early works, which had a lot of heart. Unfortunately he later devolved, from “lovable Jewish schlemiel (fool)” to arrogant intellectual. The characters in those later films, the so-called NY sophisticates, were equally amoral. They all left me cold. Maybe this is the natural outcome of those who embrace secularity.

As far as the current allegations — I think Allen is capable of deviant behavior. He hates women & gravitates to the weird or immature. Whether he was actually guilty of these acts, however, we’ll never know for sure.

The deft touch was the final scene with Wilder as a Skid Row bum. As the camera moves in, you can see that he’s drinking.....Woolite!

"Only in Allen's case, Hollywood isn't the bringer of false light, but a willing accomplice to darkness. The end of Dylan Farrow's letter, not anything said by Sarah Palin or any other Fox News commentator, is the most stinging indictment of Hollywood I have ever read:"

Look how they blame Sarah Palin and Fox News.

I don’t get why people think this ugly whiny geeky dweeb was funny.

I could never stomach any of his movies at face value, so no, I could not pick out anything because I wouldn’t watch.

I’ve seen two Wooden Allen movies, a third one I walked out of, I don’t remember the titles of any of them (I’m fine Dr Alzheimer!), and a couple of weeks ago someone offered to loan me a DVD of a recent one, that was even liked by someone here in FR, titled, I think, “Midnight in Rio Vista”, and I declined, shouldn’t have had, so I could have a negative opinion of it, but well...

That's because his movies are targeted to other ugly whiny geeky dweebs ..... and the women who love to use them.

A remake of that scene would undoubted include references to those uneducated dolts back in the day that said man’s activity on the planet had any bearing to climate change.

Exactly! I’d rather have a colonoscopy.

I’ve never seen it. It was on Cinemax when I had HBO in the 80s.

And Netflix doesn’t have the DVD.

I’ve never liked him nor his angst in movies.

The only movie I’ve actually watched that he was involved with was “Evening in Paris” I think that’s the name, anyway. It was good but he’s too liberal for me to care about seeing anything else.

Without him there is no culture, is there?! What are we going to talk about now at our parties, at our discos, and our chic restaurants?

Black Panthers, Weather Undergrounds, fighting the Man.

Fox News is a big a part of Hollywood’s moral corruption as ABCDisney is.

But there ARE conservative social critics and they are labeled SQUARES, PURITANICAL, UPTIGHT, MORALISTS, etc.

The left (including Obama) rallied behind Roman Polanski.

So much for the war on women and war on children.

Selective outrage.

Zelig may have been the last Allen movie I went to see at a theatre.

Last month, I saw Casino Royale on cable, and before that, Midnight in Paris.

Others [of his] have been on and off, unseen by me.

I think the only one I would sit down for would be What's Up, Tiger Lilly?.

"Exactly! I’d rather have a colonoscopy."

Actually a colonoscopy can be quite enjoyable, provided you have a gastroenterologist who believes in the benefits of Demerol and Dilaudid.
