I know the feeling.
The dog was in the corner and the cop still shot it?
Trigger happy goofball.
Well, at least the fearful, but brave, police officer got home safe and alive.

Columbus police said they are investigating the incident. They will interview witnesses and determine whether or not the officer followed procedure.
A total waste of time as the decision had been made even before the shooting of this dog, “Followed standard procedures to the letter”, case closed.
Yeah - that's a real "stressful situation", right up there with a hostage taking and armed robbery.
This guy's got no business being a cop, no more sense than he displayed.
Nine shots to kill the dog? That’s impressive! I hope this officer gets sued.
And they’re worried about us having guns...
With all the dog shootings this must be part of the police training to intimidate the rest of us. One step away from shooting you for any reason.
office = officer.....damn
So why didnt' he just tell the owners to come get their dog and put it in the house? The "life was in danger" canard is total BS - when was the last time you read about a full grown man being killed by a family dog?
That’s exactly right. They’re trying to condition us - and themselves - for this sort of thing on a large scale basis. Any sort of resistance to “the state” will be met with immediate and lethal force. No knock raids for suspected doobie possession and unpaid college loans, drone surveillance, email and phone monitoring, the shooting on sight of children carrying toy guns, etc. and et al are part of the program, too.
A dog is valueable property, worth the initial cost of investment plus all the hours of training. If the homeowners had killed this punk with a badge to prevent the destruction of their property it would have been totally justified.
Cops are killing dogs for being dogs.
Even INNOCENT people subject to these ‘no-knock raids’ live in terror for the rest of their days...their health damaged, years taken off their lives. How many thousands now live like this?
Instead of a boxer, these folks had a 1000 lb. grizzly bear.
In this situation, where shooting the bear might just make him angry, what would the proper procedure be?
I'm gonna guess it would be to slowly back away in a nonthreatening way to a safe distance & call for assistance, either from the owner of a bear or from headquarters.
Why can't this be standard procedure for dealing with dogs when the police call is for a minor disturbance or other nonviolent situation?
Bingo.
I do not remember the last time I read about a letter carrier having a problem with a dog that required putting the dog down. Usually they just throw the dog a milk bone and go on with their work.
Cops on the other hand, apparently actively seek out dogs to kill them.
