With most of packaged dogs either lacking any flavor or tasting like ground cardboard, anything, even John Kerry’s spouse’s gin soaked catsup, is vast improvement.

That combo never occurred to me.

However, I have been on a quest for my own iteration of a Coney Sauce. I have 2 recipes: One uses blended cheap hot dogs, the other uses Beef Heart (I think one was based on a forum discussion on Detroit’s Coneys and the other on New York; can’t recall w/o looking up my notes).

Still not sure which is best; time to make a batch of each since ya’ll got my mouth watering!

A Costco Polish dog with a line of ketchup on one side, mustard on the other, onions on top, and some Thai chilies on the side. Oh baby! We have been through this before; it is no big deal, ketchup or no, just enjoy it any way you want.

If you want something a bit different try Heinz 57, chopped shallots and extra sharp Cheddar cheese.

I don’t recall the last hot dog I had…maybe decades ago. I liked them with ketchup and pickle relish and just a dab of mustard.
