Realistically the data won’t be worth mining on seasonal forecasts until a few months out. He said the same 6 months before the winter of 2012-2013 and that was unusually warm for much of the eastern two-thirds of the country.

And you wonder why people who live in the Upper Midwest to US Northeast end up suffering cabin fever by middle February because they can't go outside for many days at a time. Small wonder why people in New York state who can afford it buy homes in Florida and California and people in Illinois who can afford it buy homes in Arizona.

Good memory!
I can only remember the ice storm two and a half weeks ago. (Still have the tree limbs at the curb to be collected by the city.)
Looks like the current storm is going to miss the Triad.

As dear ol daddy used to say... Couldnt happen to a nicer bunch!Ignorant and totally uncalled for.
Nevertheless, I'll be bookmarking this thread to return the sentiment
when they forecast the next Cat5 to make landfall in your backyard.

Haha, bless your heart! Nobody’s “rooting” for the storm, can’t change what the weather has in store for anybody. If it’s gonna happen, it’s gonna happen to somebody. And you are the nicest bunch, right? Bundle up with a nice bottle (or two) of scotch and I’ll pray that Spring emerges in your parts before June! (or before your scotch runs out, whichever comes first) ;-)
Seriesly, best of luck.

Yeah, and unfortunately they bring their voting habits with them. That's why they shouldn't be allowed to vote until they have been residents of their new state for TEN years.

Let me say this has been the roughest winter I can remember since the early 70s. Less snow this time around but brutal cold (is there any other kind ?)
Maybe it got cold enough to knock back the armadillos that have arrived in Missouri in the past 10 years. I don't see any critters on the highway hereabouts.
Maybe there is one benefit from the cold.

Been through plenty of hurricanes and the refrain is always the same... “Well, don’t feel sorry for them, THEY chose to live there!”
I’m sure you will have plenty of chances in the future to return the sentiment. Won’t be anything anybody around here hasn’t heard before. Like I said above, if it happens, it happens. But I much rather prefer my storms to be warm ones.
Stay safe... and WARM :-)

Northerners have very delicate thin skin...I hope the blizzard blows Red England out to sea, never to return. No such luck, I’m sure.
