You want to know my cell phone pet peeve? It is folks who hold their cell phones vertically to make video recordings. It drives me NUts since it cuts out a lot of range of field and is so easily solvable. I mean can't these folks figure it out for themselves? Over and over and over again we get recordings with thick black bands on the sides all because the people using the cell phone are too clueless to hold them HORIZONTALLY when recording.

Yes, but when you hold your phone horizontally, you miss out on all the stuff happening above and below. What they should do is make cell phones in the shape of a giant square.

Saw this beautiful video of a woman who just heard sounds for the first time in her life and her stupid mom ruined the video by shooting it in portrait. Man I was focusing on the wrong thing there but it just annoyed me.

That is EXACTLY the video that set me off on my rant. Instead of shifting back and forth from the therapist to the woman, BOTH could have been in the same shot simply by holding the cell phone HORIZONTALLY.
