Johnny/sockmonkey, how cold are you now and what is your weather now? How low do you think you will go tonight? What are you doing to protect plants?

Taking their pictures?

It's 76 here right now. 66 for tonight. 66 high tomorrow, then 36 tomrrow night, and 39 Monday night.

Went out and placed the tall metal spikes between the wood planks on the deck among the containers to keep the quilts from mashing them. All I have to do now is place the quits on top of those metal spikes - they are designed to hold up a plant so they have a curly que thing on the top and that gives the quilts a place to rest.

These are for holding up plants, not holding up quilts but when I saw them I knew they would do that job too, and bought a bunch of them and they were cheap at Walmart.

When any plant gets tall, put the curly que thing around the stalk and stick it in the soil and that will hold the plant. By then, I won't need them for holding up quilts. I also have very strong metal rods to also use for plants and Styrofoam soft twist ties to hold the plant to the rod.

Now, tomorrow when it is raining in the afternoon, one or more of you come here and get in the rain with me to put the quilts over those spikes. Volunteer here: _________________, _________________. I'll put regular row cover thick on the plants in the net room.

April 14 tomorrow night and in the 30s? Beam me up, Scotty.

I now have three chiltepin peppers just above the surface of the soil. I look forward to checking in on them every 15 minutes! LOL!

I know what you mean - every morning when I would come downstairs, had to check under the grow lamp to see what happened during the night. Pepper seeds seem to take forever to grow, but now that the actual plants are in their permanent containers on the deck, they are just growing fast and look very healthy. I have to protect them tomorrow night and the next night because I would just freak out if cold killed them.

Don't look for me, unless you've developed an instantaneous quantum transport device. I've got stuff to do here. ;)

Over the next few days, 36F is supposed to be the coldest it will get, and everything in the big garden should survive that. I may rake a few leaves around the tomatoes and peppers to give them a little insulation.

I just made a lemon pound cake. It seems like I made a cake just last week. They keep disappearing, though.

Johnny/sockmonkey,....snip..... What are you doing to protect plants?

As a serious answer to your question. I will throw plankets over stuff..probably more to protect them from wind, than cold. I will turn on the heat lamp in the TX Prepper's Greenhouse, and I will put the wall of waters around the T squash which are growing more leaves, but no tendrils yet.

New bug pests spotted in the garden today..thrips/leafhoppers (notorious for spreading virus diseases, and also sow bugs in the potatoes. Also, yesterday, I was digging, and found the biggest, as in four inches or better grub/June bug larva. I should've taken a picture, but I screamed and stomped it. I was the biggest one I've ever seen. Must've been a mutant.

That sounds good. I would like some Earl Grey tea with my slice, thank you.

Well, I’m now up to five. I hope I’m not slowing them down by watching so much.

Are you guys getting some rain? Ours started here a while back and coming down now at a pretty good clip. Have about quarter of an inch in the rain can - I dashed out to see.

They have changed the forecast back to fairly warm temps tonight instead of the 29 degrees, but I already covered stuff with row cloth, that needed it, so I’m just going to leave it there.

Randy, enjoy the babies.

THE GREENHOUSE BLEW OVER. So, I’m recopying the income tax rape papers, and Prissy is on the chair with me, and suddenly freaks out barking toward the back glass doors. I get up, go to door and the small greenhouse is laid over onto the containers. I flew out there and lifted it up, no plants destroyed, and I didn’t see an animal anywhere in the garden. If one got on the high brick wall, it’s a very easy really minor jump to top of green house and over it would go forward due to jumping on it from behind.

However, an evil wind could have possibly done it but those walls are not prone to letting wind really get in there. At any rate, I propped it leaning against that wall so the top of it is below the wall and put a large container under the space made when I tipped it back. It’s not going anywhere now. Made sure the wheels on it were locked and they were.

Dog has calmed down. If that was an animal, I would think some of the plants in front of and around that greenhouse would show destruction as the animal should have been thrown right on top of them. Maybe it was fast enough to get off it as it was falling.

I am sick of income tax, need an adult beverage. I’m down to addressing an envelope and putting the forms in there. Took forever to find the right address for it. I liked books to do taxes, not these pdf files where I have to hunt and hunt for what I want.

I wonder if I’d have to do taxes if I joined a nunnery or got put in prison. I don’t care which one at this point.

Nuns and prisoners do have to do taxes, if they have enough income. No out there.

Make sure you don't have the greenhouse top-heavy. Put heavy stuff on the bottom shelf.

There was nothing in greenhouse and it’s light as a feather.

She barked again and I stood at glass door and saw nothing moving. Now, she’s plopped down at glass door watching. No one or nothing can sneak up on me - think she can hear a pin drop from a long way off.

Put a few bricks in the bottom. Or a democrat.... something dense.

I can loan you an ex-brother-in-law. He's like a black hole of stupid. The stupid is so dense, it collapses in on itself.

“What would VP Biden do?”

Maybe you meant, “Would VP Biden do?” to put in greenhouse.

However, if I asked him in general what to do, that’s easy. He would tell me to load a double barreled shotgun, go outside and fire both barrels into the air. That fixes everything.

I take it you aren't going to take the veep's advice? The police where you live probably appreciate it.
