A telephone bidder in New Mexico made the winning bid for the Colt .45 revolver Thursday night.
The auction of numerous items related to Earp and his family in Scottsdale, Ariz., brought in more than $445,000, officials with J. Levine Auction & Appraisal officials said.

I read a book a couple of years ago where the author stated that Doc’s Father moved the his body to Tennessee.
(I think that was the state.)
Something that’s always bothered me with The lionization of the Earps, as depicted by Hollywood...If they were such great right-thinking figures, why were they always depicted as trying to impose a form of gun control?
Hollyweird rarely gets history right.
The Earps played both sides of the law.
Might they have been concerned with guns and so much alcohol? Just a thought.

Deforest Kelly fought twice at the OK Corral. Once as ‘Bones’ on an episode of Star Trek and then in the great 1957 ‘Gunfight at OK Corral’ as Morgan Earp.
They weren’t any better than those they arrested for the most part. It’s just that they had badges. Lots of people from the old West were not as they’ve been depicted. But they did understand PR. Wyatt tried to sell his story to Hollywood in the 1920s.
Davy Crockette was the first to “create” a legendary story about himself. Even though his true exploits would have done the trick.

My Dad was a gruff old bird, But when I went to shooting his .44 special Charter Arms Bulldog he always had a smile on his face. The little asp would put a hole in your forehead if you didn’t hold it right, and you could tell it was loaded by looking at the back of it. I sure could sling some lead with it though, hehe.
