rightly, sorry you lost plants and lemons. I'll be going home next week or sooner, and will have to deal with whatever destruction the squirrels and birds have done.
I hope your plant children aren't too decimated. Maybe it will be one of those benign neglect scenarios. If everything is croaked, you will have to use your casino winnings to replant. Make Mr. Geologist help you.

Pulled out all the squash because of the svb. Every year I go through this. Enough already. They are officially on the NEVER plant list. Yes, I say that every year but this is it. Simply not worth the effort. In all these years I’ve never gotten a zuke and maybe two yellow on a good year. They’re off my eating list too unless there’s a super duper sale at the grocery store because they’re too expensive.
Speaking of expensive, the nephews are coming in a few weeks and the only vegetable they eat is asparagus. Nope, sorry, asparagus season is over with and I’m not paying $3-4 a pound. They also don’t eat casseroles so no stretching the meat. Meat can’t be combined with anything. The meat? Steak. Of course. Excuse me, but I’m poor so I don’t get to dine on steak. They’re tweens and part hispanic and just last week tried a burrito. Ok, not very PC of me but come on. Besides, next to pizza, burritos are a staple for kids in the Southwest. Oh yeah, pizza only on occassion but no cheese or veggies on it. No fries because those are veggies. I was going to put them to work 15 mintues a day in the garden. Is that really too much to ask? Apparently so because they don’t know what outside is. The parents don’t allow them to play outside. Ya know, I made sure our kids had gardening skills, knew what walking barefoot on the grass feels like, knew how to put a worm on a hook, how to respect a gun and they like all sorts of vegetables. Honestly, I’m looking forward to their stay but, GEEZ, I simply don’t understand people these days.
No, I don’t understand people. Last night, an old a-hat neighbor came by with with a fawn in the back of his pickup looking to find someone to raise it. WHAT?!? The idiot had let his dogs run loose again and they had dragged in the few days old deer. He knows full well we have dogs because he drives by every 3 minutes 24/7/365 because he’s the neighborhood busybody and something might happen that he doesn’t know about. Told him to call Parks and Wildlife as it’s against the law to interfere with wildlife and he’d be arrested if the game warden happened by right then. I came in to call another neighbor (a mile or so away) and found out the dogs had been chasing deer way over by her. No sooner than I hung up the security lights came on and our dogs started barking. Hubby armed himself and went out to see what was up. Well, the moron was climbing in another neighbor’s vehicle claiming he was thinking about buying it. Really? 10 pm, in the dark and you’re checking out a vechicle? People are nuts these days. Ok, sorry, stepping down from the soapbox.
Sorry, back onto rant - the nephews don’t know how to ride bikes, sigh.................
Hubby used a bunch of 5 gallon buckets this year to let his tomato patches rest. They are doing well so far.
My tree is still small enough that I can bring it in or out pretty easy. So far, we have not had critters that bothered it on our back patio, so I am happy with the 6 or 8 lemons we get twice a year.
I am sure that it is root bound and in need of a transplant to a larger pot though.
Well there are plenty of docs that disagree. I am thinking that there is more than on tick spread disease too.
I think that one of those “escaped” from plum Island, can’t remember if it was lyme or something else.
I have a bunch of powdered already stocked. I am very judicious when using.LOL
I was near to using a walker last week, because my arm and wrist was hurting from using the cane and putting so much weight on the cane, and almost zero on the right foot.
Fortunately, I am now at about 85% weight on foot now, so the cane works really well. I do anticipate being back to 100% shortly.
I am pretty sure it was too much standing on concrete while processing the berries and cleaning up the kitchen. That won’t happen again till I forget - which will be a long time.

The rain could go away for awhile. I’m pumping the pond out yet again. Nanner is at the tractor doc getting a new water pump so I couldn’t work in there right now anyway, but I have other things that need to get done outdoors that are difficult to accomplish when it’s so wet.
Everything in the garden is growing like crazy, except for the weeds. So far the deep horse poo mulch experiment is looking like a success. There is some nutgrass coming up, but that stuff will grow on anything and it’s easy to get rid of.

FWIW, my cucuzzi seem more heat tolerant than the Tromboncino/Trombetta di Albenga. The leaves on the cucuzzi don't wilt at all in the afternoon like the T squash. I've been picking the little tiny brown spots, aka, SVB eggs off of my Tromb's and Cucuzzi. There were just a few on the Cucuzzi, and since the squash are both vines, it is pretty easy to spot them.
I am also garden sitting for some friends, and his Tromb' Squash had some SVP eggs on it. Also, his T Squash have escaped their cattle panel and are headed up a tree..Good luck picking squash fifteen feet up in a tree.

LOL!!! My two T’s are going to be over the cattle panel in about 3..2..1.... no trees nearby so I don’t know what is going to happen. I might have to look around the junk piles and see if I can rig up something for them. The Cucuzza is definitely looking for the fence & ready to climb so I did take the shade off this afternoon - it’s cloudy with T-storms in the area & tomorrow will be a little cooler, so I think the timing is perfect.
I haven’t been checking the squash carefully for anything (eggs, etc.), but I guess I’ll have to start looking at the leaves. So far, they’re all healthy, green, and growing like crazy!
Black snake in the hen house yesterday - got an egg. Always something going on around here.
I’m still on grandbabysitting duty for the night and stuck on the tablet. At one point I was herding 6 kids between ages of 2 an 14. I may need drugs.

I picked one of my T squash this am. It is 23 inches long, and about as big around as a zucchini. It is very straight since it was hanging from the top of an arched cattle panel.
JRandom, I think one of these squash would feed all your grandkids at a meal. I think I will make tromboodles with it. It should make enough for a week.
