Detroit, has been bankrupt for nearly a year. But out of mind doesn't mean out of sight, especially now that Google has launched its street view Time Machine, which provides for 7 years worth of street images, showing the time shift of the tumultuous period period starting in 2007. One blogger who decided to take this time lapse data and apply it to the city of Detroit is GooBing Detroit who, as the following time-lapse photos demonstrate, has captured Detoit's unprecedented slow-motion collapse into death and decay in what is the closest we have to "real time."
Perhaps what is most stunning about the following series of photos is not the ultimate fate of the bankrupt city, but how quickly a once vibrant metropolis has succumbed to blight and sheer desperation.
Hopefully not coming to a street near you.

Part of it is a change in firefighting policy. The Detroit Fire Department was losing people fighting fires in vacant homes.
The current policy is to allow vacant homes without squatters to burn to the ground so they don’t have to fight another fire in that building. They do work to save lives, just not abandoned property.
If you can, watch the movie Burn, which documents the lives of Detroit firefighters.

The lesson is clear - don’t let BING take pictures in your neighborhood.
Pick any one of those streets in Detroit, put a couple Chinese restaurants and stores on it, and invite Chinese in. Within a few years it will be bustling with business and people. Where ever they go, the business climate gets crazy.
Looks like Detroit is quickly becoming a carbon sink, a rising star in the obama green movement.
This is physical evidence that Progressivism is an EPIC failure.
But if you show this urban decay to a Progressive their response will be…

In all seriousness a Progressive would tell you this blight has been caused by Republicans depriving Detroit of needed funds. If the Federal Government had just dumped a little more money into the city it would still be thriving and prosperous.
Incidentally this Republican-caused lack of funds also explains why the war on Poverty has destroyed the black family structure.

You are right. If you look closely you will see many of the homes in intermediate stages of ruin have had their aluminum siding stripped off to be sold for scrap, leaving the buildings open to the elements and vulnerable to decay.
Note the systematic removal of doors and windows. I bet that that’s not the Chinese stealing them to resell. I wonder who is stealing that stuff?
