No thanks.
A Chinese Volvo? There goes Volvo’s reputation for safety, quality and durability.

More proof that the world is going down hill.

Volvos used to have a cult like following because they were durable and reliable. And their turbo models were easily modified to become very fun performers. But these days I think that cult-like following is very much diminished and maybe what’s taken Volvo’s place is the Subaru.
I don’t know, are Volvos still designed and engineered in Sweden and just put together in China?
I’ll bet Volvo wn’t be hamstrung by Chinese labor unions.
Nej tack.
.
The Fits that are imported into the USA are made in Japan. I’ll take that over Chinese-made any day!
Actually after Ford bought them in 99 I’m not sure who/where was the engineering and design. Ford did a fire sale to the Chinese for $5 billion less than they paid in 99.
I’ve bought, and would consider buying in the future, cars made in the US/Canada,Britain,Germany and Japan.I *might* consider a car made in Italy or South Korea.I’ll *walk* before I ever buy a car made in Mexico or China.
Also, everything I’ve recently read suggests that Volvo, whose North American market share is now something like 0.5%,will soon be pulling out of this market.
Yeah, I don’t know that either.
But I was talking to some Volvo people about three years ago and at that time they told me that Sweden was still doing most of the “idea” work on the cars. I’m not sure I believed them but they were pretty adamant.
Ford sells Volvo to Chinese carmaker Geely for $1.5 billion

Looks like an older Honda Civic with a Kia Optima front end grafted onto it.
Yeh - not the best looking.
My wife has a 2007 S60 with 70K miles on it and it has been an outstanding car with little need other than regular maintenance....
The first time I heard their “Ve are Volvo...of Sveden”, I knew they were Chinese owned.
