The one I tried that hurt me.

And my favorite - a little better than Sriracha.

It was accidental, to be sure.

I was eating lunch at Spec’s Midtown in Houston (they have a great deli). I had the chicken salad sandwich with bacon on croissant. I like to spice it up, and many times, there are sample bottles of various hot sauces on the tables. I picked one up, poured a little on my sandwich, and ate. Unfortunately, my friend who had a Reuben sandwich poured a lot more than I. He immediately stood up, and walked off. I didn’t realize, so bit down on my sandwich. At which point my mouth exploded. My stomach hurt 4 hours later, still. Although, it has increased my overall tolerance for hot sauces.

I don`t mind the ultra hot stuff as long as it`s made with naturally hot peppers like the Ghost Pepper or Trinidad Moruga Scorpion, but when they use Oleoresin Capsicum, which is nothing more than laboratory derived pepper extract, it makes for a sauce that tastes like a fiery chemical mouthwash, those sauces taste synthetically nasty and totally fake.

Hmmm, never heard of that approach. I’ll need to scrutinize sauces more closely now. Thx!
