Probably not as well known as the Eastwood-Leone films (Good, Bad, and The Ugly), but really an outstanding "spaghetti western" in its own right. Bronson's great in this one, and I guarantee you will NEVER look at Henry Fonda the same way again after watching the movie.

Plus, the clip has Jack Elam in it. Which is always awesome. :-)

One of the best if not the best spaghetti westerns! There was a lot of groundbreaking in it. IIRC the ending credits were the first to use that...ummm...flying, rotating script. Not sure but there was something about it that was a first.

I love it! I’ve got the DVD of it. It’s a movie of few words, but the music is very interesting. The beginning segment of the movie (I believe the first ten minutes or so) is made without any “formal music” playing either in the background or foreground - and instead - uses “natural sounds” as a sort of music for that beginning segment. It’s quite interesting.

I haven’t seen that movie in years but that’s one scene I’ll never forget. They sure made the actors look dirty and mean.

Elam was great in Support Your Local Sheriff with James Garner and Bronson was great in Chato’s Land. I think, his best western ever.

I just read that Bronson was the original choice for the Eastwood roles.
