Musk ox invasion keeps Nome wildlife managers busy
Anchorage Daily News ^ | comJuly 2, 2014 | SEAN DOOGAN

Nome is used to rowdy residents, but some relatively new transplants are making a real nuisance of themselves -- although unlike the colorful characters of the early 20th century gold rush days, these visitors have four legs, not two.

Musk oxen are wandering into the city on the Seward Peninsula, and despite loud noises, water hoses and even a blow-up bear coated in ursine urine, they don't want to leave.

You could see some Bellatrix in the Lone Ranger character. I don’t think she’ll ever leave Bellatrix completely behind her as I think she enjoyed the role.

I’m glad Sally isn’t too ill. Although I’m sure she thinks she is dying!

Our family members fall into two categories. There are those, including Bill and Sally, who reason, “How long can I take advantage of this to do what I want to (lie around) and avoid what I don’t want?” Then there are those, including Tom and me, who reason, “Only weak people get so sick that they can’t work.”

Fortunately, Tom came through this without reaching that point, and I didn’t have any serious symptoms, just a little cough and sore throat.

Hmmm, i think the RAF shot one of those down over ‘Bentwaters’ back in the ‘80s.
It fired ‘green sh1t’ at them, so they put a ‘winder’ in it.
Disappeared through the clouds leaving a trail of smoke behind it.

“Phineas and Ferb” is extremely funny.

It’s hard to play “hide and seek” in the tunnels when one knows all the tunnels by heart even with the lights off.

Now give it a honking engine, gobs of horsepower, and I’ll be interested.
Wimp it down with a sissy engine, all in the name of “environmental concerns” and I’ll be angry.

You'll probably be airborne, too.

I went to lunch this morning with the gal who used to be my aide, several years ago. Chines food. Yummy!

It was a nice lunch. I had egg foo young which I haven’t had in years, and she had chow mein. The Munchkin picked at everything!

I called a friend who used to work on Miss Daisy, and he will research the installation of the fuel pump for Mr. Bill, and let me know when he can do it. But I will have to offer him some money, I’m sure. He will have to fit it in with his schedule, as he works full time now.

My daughter sent me a text to say there was no way her hubby could install it this weekend, and I replied that I didn’t believe I asked that he install it this weekend. I stipulated, “before you leave.” Big difference. Obviously, he works full time as well, but I need my vehicle. Especially with The Little Redhead in the wings.

So we will see how this all falls out.

Glad you had a nice lunch! Good luck with the truck repair - maybe your daughter will decide it’s in her interest!

I doubt it. She’s all about her. Selfish as the day is long. If she can’t benefit directly, she won’t play.
