The dog was about 19 at the time the photograph was taken.

I think dog died recently at age 20. He must have has a good life to last that long.

My cousin lives in Bayfield and is good friends with the photographer who took this photo. I believe it was the following winter that she suffered her own tragedy.....her husband drowned in Lake Superior. He was a fishing guide and the ice gave way beneath his snowmobile....
