Which TV series should have gone on?

Posted on 07/19/2014 8:28:11 PM PDT by MNDude

Most TV series "jump the shark" or get bad long before they end. But there's always a few that you wish that went on at least another season. Which TV series or program(s) do you wish hadn't ended when it did but continued on at least another year?

I’m with you on La Femme Nikita. I wish they would do a “reunion” show of sorts.

It’s years later and Michael’s son, Adam, is all grown up and he and Nikita are reunited. They had such a wonderful love story and it would be interesting to see what the writers would do with the years of absence between them and “if” Nikita really made the changes to Section I that she intended to make or if she became ruthless as the new Operations...oh well, one can dream...lol

Oh, yes, definitely The Middleman.

I'd also include Tremors: The Series and Battlestar Galactica(1978).

That’s at least 4 of us that loved “My Mother the Car”.

So happy.

How about “The Mothers in Law”, that was a good show. With Kay Ballard and, I think, Eve Arden (f/k/a Our Miss Brooks).

Two families lived next door and their two kids, who were married, lived in an apartment in one of their garages.

That seems to be a big thing in California, the garage apartment.

I remember it being amusing.

I didn’t care for “My Mother the Car.” But then, my taste in comedies changed over the years. Maybe I would like it now.

It is said that there are only 7 plotlines.

From the Internet:
The seven basic plots are:

1. overcoming the monster;
2. rags to riches;
3. the quest;
4. voyage and return;
5. comedy;
6. tragedy;
7. rebirth.

HOW did we ever survive without Google and the Internet?

.

Oh yeah, books. :o)

Hey, you meed to be in with the in crowd! We’ll let you hang with us, no problem!

Such a silly show, Jerry Van Dyke would get in the car and his dead mother would talk to him through the radio.

Ridiculous!

And then he was on “Coach”, which was also a great show.

Can’t say I feel it needed to go on longer than it did, but I really liked it. Good concept and well executed.

I also like Coach.
I remember when the COACH actor was on the "Golden Girls."

Now that you bring up the show, I DO vaguely remember it.

I'm sure it was good because Hollyweird can make shows succeed or fail, depending on whether they want to use their "A" writers or not.

It's probably all about MONEY. But, then, what else is new?

So many shows are so terrible, not funny at all.

Now, I know that many/most freepers probably do not like it, but “Modern Family” is a great show. It’s probably the best comedy since Seinfeld.

I know it has the gay guys, and people don’t like it for that, but we love it. And, it’s like the Simpsons in a way, every dog has his day.

I'll agree that there's some decent comedy in Modern Family, but I wouldn't go so far as to say 'great'.
Red Dwarf and IT Crowd come to mind as being funnier; as does Ghost Pony Rider (and themesong).

Breaking Bad. Sons of Anarchy which is in its last year.

Both series got darker and darker as they matured, but became more like real life as they limned the likely outcomes of the lifestyles they portrayed.

I got in late to both of them but made up for that by watching the re=runs.

Seems like The Unit was on the same time as 24, that’s why I didn’t watch it.

Arrested Development is still going. Season 4 was released last year exclusively for Netflix. Movie may be next.

Fox cancelled this but aired Who Wants to Marry Harry...they’ve got some idiots making program decisions.

Yes, Fox cancelled it after season 3 in 2006. Because the show got more popular as the years went on, Netflix revived the show last year for season 4 and most likely season 5. Wish the same would happen to Firefly.

The Job with Denis Leary. ABC cancelled that way to soon but did get Rescue Me out of it.
