New video shows police offered no medical help to unresponsive Staten Island dad Eric Garner

The seven-minute clip posted Saturday on YouTube shows an apparently lifeless Eric Garner, whose head droops to the side as at least eight cops stand nearby.

“C’mon, guy,” one cop says to Garner, the only thing on the video that suggests any of the officers was trying to help the Staten Island man. “Breathe in, breathe out.”

But Garner, on his side with his eyes closed, doesn’t move at all — even when the officer slaps him on the shoulder. The side of his head remains flat against the concrete, and his eyes never open.

At one point, another officer is seen taking a cell phone and a pack of cigarettes from 43-year-old Garner’s pants

I don’t paint every cop with the FR broad brush. I saw about a dozen cops I worked with go to jail, they all deserved it. I’m not protecting the cops, I’m saying this guy did not die because of being choked.

That’s it.

He did not die from strangulation, he died from a heart attack while he was resisting the lawful arrest of himself in a Marxist controlled state in America. The same “news” reporters of which detest cops, authority, the military, conservatives etc. and has an agenda to destroy that which made America a great nation.

So, when this REPORTER said the man died from the “choke hold” you believe him? I have news for you, the liberal media sees any touching of a minority as a reason to foment racial division.

I’m going to tell you what is going to happen with this video.
It actually favors the officers.

This guy was committing a crime in the People’s Republic of New York. The officers clearly talk to him about it and at one point they move in to arrest him. The man resists. Resisting arrest is a crime. They take him down to the ground with a neck restraint and the guy has a heart attack.

It did not look to me that this guy was choked unconscious. The officers initial positioning with his arm around the guys neck was not the best but no way did he use enough force there, or was capable of crushing his windpipe with that hold.

Putting someone in a neck restraint hold is also different than choking someone unconscious. When they were on the ground you will notice the officers choking elbow is pointing the same direction as the suspects chin. The pressure then, if any was applied, is along the side of the throat which makes it impossible to damage someones windpipe.

This is what is referred to as the Lateral Vascular Neck Restraint taught by Kansas City PD. I believe that if you take this course, and thousands of cops have, you have to be choked out yourself.

I took Judo for 10 years and have been choked more times that I can count. I was never injured.

Do you want the cops to stop arresting people if the people resist arrest? Remember, people have died from all forms of arrest, pepper spray and Tazer.

If you don’t want cops to try to arrest someone who is resisting, just say so. That can be extended I suppose to people who assault the cops (some cops have also died from combative confrontations) as well, if they are resisting or combative just run away.

If you want to do away with all cops, that’s fine with me too, just say it. Don’t let your hatred of cops blur your common sense.

It is impossible to say “I can’t breath” if you don’t have air coming into and out of your lungs. I have choked many people who say “I can’t breath.” I have been choked and thought “I can’t breath.” That’s right, you can’t until the pressure is released.

Yeah, talk to some Vietnam Veterans. John Kerry. Bill Ayers. Abu Ghraib.

Google for yourself ‘media accuse U.S. Soldiers of murder’ and see what comes up.

Have there been some atrocities committed by some soldiers. Yes. Does that mean they are all murderers or baby killers. No. Same thing applies to cops, lawyers, plumbers, doctors, priests, truck drivers.

John Kerry’s direct testimony:

KERRY AUDIO CLIP: They told the stories at times they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam in addition to the normal ravage of war, and the normal and very particular ravaging which is done by the applied bombing power of this country.

John F. Kerry, US Senator, US Secretary of State.

Oh, I notice that Mr. Kerry says that US soldiers shot dogs for fun.

Is that where cops learned it? I’m sure it is if the media reported it so.

US SOLDIERS SHOOT DOGS FOR FUN! I’m offended. Jack Booted Thugs.

He wasn’t even selling cigarettes. That is the skanky tattooed undercover cop’s alibi for harassing Garner. He had gone for a walk and a smoke.

You do rescue breathing if the person has a pulse but isn’t breathing; if the heart stops you add compressions. These cops would have known that. There is no excuse for this man to die without any efforts to save him. NO EXCUSE.

Look at the photo you posted. The cop in front has his handcuffs out. The cop in back is trying to control an arm.

This guy is bigger than both cops.

How would you arrest him?

They changed it. You no longer have to do rescue breathing. I would not do rescue breathing on anybody I don’t know. Been there.

“Had he just gone along with them and had his day in court he’d be alive now. Merits of the law he broke not withstanding. Get arrested, go to court..”

- Since you and your fellow goons are PAID to arrest people and PAID to spend your days in court, you probably don't understand that a lot of people resent being falsely detained, arrested and booked into jail and have to pay bail, and hire lawyer for bogus, trumped up charges. No one wants to be harassed and detained on false made up B.S. We don't get paid to hang out in courts all day, like you government leeches do.

This was the case here.

I believe it is evil to kill a man during an arrest.

That is so obvious a truth that it amazes me that people would argue against it. The victim here was a threat to no one.

-I wouldn't have arrested Garner, he wasn't bothering anyone, and they knew it. I would have said:
“Hi Eric, how's it going today? I hear you just broke up a fight, good job! “
-But I'm not a SOCIOPATH.

I watched the video again, and listened to it. From that very limited video, that may have been doctored by the media, AKA Rodney King, who can say for certain what aid any of those cops rendered? There are two cops near him at the end of the video and there are still-photos of the ambulance crew on scene. So, obviously, someone called for a rescue squad. Anything other than that is open to speculation.

Bottom line, the guy resisted arrest. He knew the drill, the article says he has 31 prior arrests, put your hands behind your back, let them take you down town, book you and have your day in court. Then, if they had been harassing him as he said in the video, get an ambulance chaser to sue the pants off the cops.

I wonder how many other times he resisted arrest in his 31 arrest history. You also hear him saying he just broke up a fight. How much did he exert himself in that police action? Obviously obese and looks to be sweating, he may have got himself jacked up, on the way to a heart attack in that little escapade.

Are you trying to convince yourself?

The boys in blue obviously had a charge to arrest him on. They showed him the cuffs, they tried to arrest him, tried to put his hands behind his back.

He resisted arrest. He should have complied and later sued if he had a legitimate case, after all, it was all on video right?

I do not hate cops. I hate what cops like this tatted up gangsta do to people. Like killing this guy. For selling a cigarette for a quarter. Or shooting somebody's dog for the hell of it.

I hate the thin blue line that defends actions that would make a NAZI puke. I hate the lack of accountability. I hate Police unions that keep thugs on the force.

Read the comments on the news source these threads are based on. I have company.

Everything you have said on this thread makes sense. Yet you are IMHO missing something. There is a pattern emerging here. Not just with fatalities during an arrest, but with how the police are treating the public in general.

Twenty years ago, I could walk up to a cop and, say, ask for directions to the post office. And I would get those directions, and then I'd be told: "Have a nice day." The last time I tried that, I got a short and curt answer. The message was unmistakable: how dare you speak to me!

And then there are the shootings of confused old men, sleepy homeowners, innocent motorists, etc. There is a pattern here, and people are seeing it. So cops are no longer given the benefit of the doubt.

The cops alone have created this environment of extreme distrust, and so they will be sharply criticized, even in completely justified situations.

Bottom line: It's up to the cops to change this perception.

You don’t hate cops? You just call them all Jack-booted thugs. OOOOOOOOOH, I get it now. The ‘tatted up gangsta’ was making a lawful arrest. Isn’t it funny that folks here at FR pick and choose how to label black folks who break the law?

I mean, such as this case. The guy clearly was aware he was being arrested yet he chose to resist. He had a heart attack and died. Terrible situation.

Likely many here on FR would call the guy a welfare cheat, one of “Obama’s sons” and a scum when they saw his arrest record.

Oh, by the way, do you now apply the dog killer label to US troops since Senator John Kerry said they killed dogs for fun in Vietnam?

Thank you. And now, I will agree with you. Many young cops do treat the public poorly. And there are many that are very upstanding young men, just as polite and courteous as anyone I have ever met. Unfortunately the polite cops don’t get much press coverage. The morons do.

In general I find our society has eroded and cops are drawn from our society. I don’t like it either.

Police work over the last few decades has changed dramatically. I always warn of the changes going on being made by the ultra rich associated with the IACP, the International Association of Chief’s of Police, a political, socialist organization to the bone. Obama once sat on one of their associate societies, the Joyce Society.

The push is on to change this nation and that includes the way the police operate. I’m sure I am Captain Obvious here but not many people realize the push to change the police forces as well, from the top down and bottom up as they say.

Cops are going to be like everybody else when the time comes, having to make a decision on which side of the line they are going to stand.
