Well they are about as fake as many real women, and the out-of-pocket is a one time fee only.
Thanks for giving Lars and the Real Girl a plug. I liked it too.
I have heard about young Japanese women who post ads soliciting sex in exchange for expensive gifts. The young women are known as “car gurus”, as pronounced by the Japanese. If you substitute “L”’s for the “R”’s you can see how they came up with the phrase.
No country has had so many missionaries sent to it, with so little success. God will have to intervene in a way more miraculous than He has in South Korea, China, and Taiwan in order for His gospel to begin to flourish in Japan.
And it makes for an entertaining thread that is a little less doom and gloom than most of what is in the news.
I knew somebody would bring this up—that it’s a reaction to the many deficiencies of real women. So glad to be out of the dating scene now. And yes, I suppose a lot of men are glad I’m of the dating scene, too.
Do they still have the highest suicide rate among first world nations?
Japan is a place of many, ever-changing sex fads all right. The book People Who Eat Darkness is a true crime story, but sheds some light on this.
I think that this is important in terms of the bigger picture of increasing importance if robots in society. A guy wrote a book about this, including people who marry robots. This book is on my bookcrossing wish list, but I haven’t read it yet. The cover shows a girl in a wedding dress holding the hand if a little robot, but that’s misleading, because nearly all the people who marry or have sexual relationships with robots are men. Making more natural skin was definitely a breakthrough. He also observed how people relate to their Roombas, you know, the vacuum cleaners.
I understand the Japanese have been using robots for some of the care for elderly nursing home patients for some time. Those workers tend not to be unionized, even in this country.
I'm not talking about the kind of things in your photo. Realdolls supposedly have the "realistic feeling skin" and "movable joints so buyers can place them in any position they wish" that the Japanese company and the Mail are treating like some brand-new thing. And a lot of posters here seem to think that only the Japanese would make such things. I'm just standing up for good old American know-how and innovation!
The photos at the Realdoll site are extremely NSFW, so here's a still from the movie:
I don’t know but they used to have a pretty high abortion rate.
The Japanese have no monopoly on kinky, that is for sure. But I do think as a culture they are more open about it, which may make it be & seem more pervasive.
I don’t kow, but I think (hope anyway) that we are not as far down that road as they.
Also, when viewing the video, the joint movements make the doll act like it is in the early stages of rigor mortis - which some people might consider a plus.
Thanks for posting, Morgana. Morgana. Morgana.
Yeah, you could build some circuit boards with it, lol.
While there may be up to 3 million Japanese Christians, Christianity in Japan is spread among many denominational affiliations.
There are fewer than 1% of the population claim Christian belief or affiliation. Nearly all known traditional denominations of Christianity, including Roman Catholicism, Protestantism and Orthodox Christianity, are represented in Japan today
Presently there are about 509,000 Catholics in 16 dioceses in Japan.
Arriving in Japan in the middle of the 16th century, Catholicism was the very first contact of Christianity in Japan
There are at present estimated to be 500,000 Protestant Christians in Japan. Dr. James Curtis Hepburn, M.D., LL.D. (March 13, 1815 June 11, 1911) was the first Presbyterian missionary to Japan, arriving in 1859.
It is estimated that the Japanese Orthodox Church has some 30,000 adherents today. The primate’s seat is the Holy Resurrection Cathedral in Chiyoda, Tokyo. Originally founded in 1891. Eastern Orthodoxy was brought to Japan in the 19th century by St. Nicholas (baptized as Ivan Dmitrievich Kasatkin), who was sent in 1861.
In 2013 the number of Jehovah’s Witnesses was 216,472
As of year-end 2009, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) reported 123,245 members
Just a few quick points from Wiki - they’ve had missionaries for a good long time... since the 1500’s.
If those dolls caught on here, divorce attorneys would be homeless.
They should be a big hit with pedos. Most look like they’re about 12 years old.
