This week's movie is a superb film noir directed by Fritz Lang and starring Edward G. Robinson. Robinson is a middle-aged, straight-arrow professor whose momentary lapse in judgment draws him into a web of deceit, murder, and coverup. Co-starring Joan Bennett, Raymond Massey, and Dan Duryea.

This is one of my favorite Film Noirs, and probably my favorite Edward G. Robinson role. In part because the character he plays here is much like the real-life Edward G. Robinson - an educated, refined man who would probably know about as much about pulling off "the perfect crime" as my Sunday school teacher. His performance as his life spirals out of control is just spellbinding. 8/10.

BTW, Lang and the studio were pressured by the movie codes/morals board of the day to lighten the mood/theme of the film. Lang resisted for the most part, but there is one rather obvious concession at one point in the film (you’ll see what I mean).

I’ve gotten to where I order old films from TCM or AMAZON.

Who needs modern CGI si-fi movies when you got this great stuff to watch which doesn’t make your ears burn with vile language and actually HAS A PLOT!

last night and tonight I’ve been watching some old Boris Karloff movies I’ve never seen! Right now I am watching THE TOWER OF LONDON.

Next week it will be old Bela Legosi movies I’ve never seen!

Last month it was Pirate movies from the 1930s through the 1950s!

Oh forgot one I received not long ago..THE BLACK SHIELD OF FALWORTH! Great old movie!

I just enjoyed Orwell”s “1984” starring Edmund O’Brien on You Tube. I think I’ll do more of this.

I jut sat at my computer and watched a 1942 movie with Robert Cummings & Priscilla Lane...I think it was called Saboteur
GREAT MOVIE. Subscription movies are not in my budget, & so it's youtube & film noir movies, and my buttery popcorn!
