Potential ‘16 rivals defend Rick Perry
Politico ^ | 8/16/2014 | Burgess Everett

Rick Perry’s potential 2016 GOP rivals on Saturday rushed to the Texas governor’s defense in the wake of his indictment on allegations of abusing his office.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-La.) and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush all came out in strong defense of Perry, who on Saturday said he would fight the “farce” indictment.

Cruz, who previously served as a top lawyer for the Lone Star state, blasted the prosecution as “politically motivated” and lit into what he deemed as the “sad history” of the prosecutors, a reference to previous legal efforts aimed at Texas Republicans.

My favorite part was actually in the comments where this "not a Republican" guy tells off the Politico nut jobs by quoting prominent Democrats as saying:

"Perry indictment seems pretty sketchy." - David Axelrod

"It seems quite perverse to indict a governor for exercising his clearly delineated constitutional authority." - Ben White

My opinion is Perry will make hay with this. It might even help his 2016 bid. Even the Democrats know he did nothing wrong, and they're putting his name up in lights.

With a hardass like Rick on the "defensive," this is going to be fun to watch. I can't wait.

I don’t even fault the grand jury. “Ham Sandwich.” They only hear the prosecutor’s side of the story. No defense whatsoever. Almost every fool in Austin would’ve been compelled to indict based on a lying DA’s testimony alone. It’s a joke and due to a Republican house and senate, the DA will reap the whirlwind. I imagine their power as county DA to indict a sitting governor will be stripped next session if not at least severely curtailed.

There is no bigger critic of pro-ILLEGAL alien Rick Perry than I...but I agree, this indictment is BS.

They failed to do their job, which is to Question Authority! Why have grand juries, if not to do that?

F-'em. They are low-information pukes!

Yeah. Well, these are Austin thugs whose mantra is “Keep Austin Weird.” I expect nothing less from them. The only authority they question is that of good people like our gov. Austin is every bit as bad as LA or San Francisco in this way.

He's not pro Illegal. He's pro Republicanizing. Once they're here and the feds won't get rid of them, he's all about making the best of a bad situation.

But I appreciate your stance on the indictment. I know you don't like him.

It's going to be interesting to hear the (D) politicians and commentators give reasons why the video-taped drunken DA should not have resigned...:^)

That hag's actions are indefensible. What bitter bile she must be carrying around to want to bring that video back up again...this time on a national scale! It's just too much. Warms my heart, actually. Talk about your all-time backfire.

Thanks, but La Raza Rick has a long history of being pro-ILLEGAL alien. Your denials can’t change that.

Lol. Yeah. Ole La Raza Rick, fishin for La Raza votes, attempting to change hearts and minds. String him up, the bastard!

Rationalize your hero's pro-ILLEGAL alien past any way you'd like. It will keep him from ever being POTUS.

btw...do you agree with my tagline? lol!

Haha. No. But then I don't know the context of the statement. And frankly, I'd rather have Ted Cruz for president. Anyway, I doubt Rick can pull off a POTUS election. He's way too Texan, brash and unpolished. He speaks his mind and that just doesn't fly in an age of phonies like Obama. Phony sells. But if he did somehow manage it, SECURE our borders and make us respectable on the world stage again, restore our pride, etc. This I know. He's certainly kept us Texans proud.

I'm okay with your clinging to the La Raza Rick thing, seriously. Lots of people refuse to see the big picture due to preconceived notions or snap judgments based on a headline. It's typical. It's the American way...and what got us into this situation in the first place.

nice tagline

Let’s not forget another perry ditty (the one that sank his last presidential bid faster than the titanic)

When he said that anyone against giving illegal aliens in state tuition “had no heart”

I guess you’d prefer dumb, welfare-receiving illegals to the educated, self-supporting kind. Good thinkin’ there Einstein.

Me too. Unfortunately that is a job only the Federal government can do. "Idiot." Take it up with your president. In the meantime, Texas has to deal with these people humanely.
