Not everyone is great with home improvement projects, as evidenced in this video. Check out what just may be the worst garage door installation, ever. Sure, the garage now has a power door, but the lengths the installer has gone to seem a bit absurd.

The only way that show would be made today is if the roles were reversed.

Our first house looked like a million bucks. It had been “remodeled” by the previous owners. It cost us a million bucks to undo all these sorts of honey-do’s they did. Like the over head fan that wobbled - because it was attached with shingle nails - to a electrical connection box above the plaster that was not secured to anything - but an extension cord.

And they forgot to fill the bulb with gasoline. They just don’t know the proper way to start a fire.

The home owner did that, not the door installer.

I differ ...

Those shows aren't on anymore because they ARE funny and they DO make sense in their roles and characters.

My wife's Filipina and we watch a LOT of METV (memorable entertainment TV) and she loves the stories and the decency of the characters (Donna Reed always in a cocktail dress, eg)

Im able to explain to her the difference between America today and when I grew up in the 50's and 60's.

smoking was EVERYWHERE, btw.

Doctor characters advertising the health benefits of KOOL cigarettes ...

controlled by a switch is funny as hell.

The switch stays "on", it's the light bulb that has to be turned manually.

At the very least, they could have spent an extra buck, and bought the outlet/bulb socket combo with the pull chain.

No one is that stupid and home running across the property, along a fence, with 4 or 5 splices into a light socket, controlled by a switch is funny as hell.

I did electrical repairs for a few years at a church in Alaska that was built and expanded over several decades, mostly by volunteer labor from the lower 48 on Mission Trips.

You are wrong.

“It will work fine until they try to sell the house.
If the buyer hires an inspector, he will not pass that.”

Plugged into light (switched). Won’t work unless light in house is turned on.

Well, in the video they say the house is up for sale.

Sohhhh, won’t pass inspection.

They’re wrong.

I doubt that the garage door installer also ran the electrical. It looks like temp power for the garage construction. The garage door installer looked for a plug to test the opener and then left. His job was done.

Construction guys would have run high quality extension cords from a good electrical source to the garage, and then not left them them behind and not having burnt up their tool motors.

This looks like a real life goof ball did it, and meant it to be fairly permanent.
