Hey GOP: Don't rig the vote, rock it
CNN ^ | 8-21-2014 | Eric Liu

This month, a federal judge allowed North Carolina to put into effect new laws that would make it more difficult to vote. Most of the American public didn't notice.

The Republicans pushing to restrict voting rights nationwide are betting on such inattention. Emboldened by a recent Supreme Court case limiting the reach of the 1965 Voting Rights Act, GOP legislators have moved swiftly in numerous states to cut early voting and same-day registration, and to require ID cards at the ballot box.

Democrats claim these measures will discourage young and nonwhite voters from voting, who tend to vote more often for Democrats. GOP legislators insist they're only worried about voter fraud and the integrity of the electoral system.

Well, that's the problem right there.

That's where a lot of fraud occurs, with the young and non-white voters, who often get paid to cast "their" votes for whoever is the democratic party's candidate.

If the writer of that article were wise, he/she wouldn't have written "who tend to vote more often, for democrats". How often is each voter 'allowed" to vote?

Wow. Making sure that only legal citizens who registered to vote can vote is “rigging the vote” now.... wow

But there is little evidence of significant fraud

Well, yeah, because it's not enforced.

Unfortunately, this will be like putting a cop on every mile of the interstate, and later claiming that "there's little evidence of speeding" when they don't catch anyone doing it.

NC has been about 50-50 in the last couple of presidential elections. I see two outcomes from the new Voter ID laws.

1) NC stays 50-50. IMO, that's bad because it shows Dems have made real inroads into a traditionally conservative state.

2) NC goes back to 55-45, plus or minus a bit. IMO, that's ALSO bad, because it means my vote hasn't counted for at least the past two elections.

Here’s why we needed improved security:

“Strach said North Carolina’s check found 765 registered North Carolina voters who appear to match registered voters in other states on their first names, last names, dates of birth and the final four digits of their Social Security numbers. Those voters appear to have voted in North Carolina in 2012 and also voted in another state in 2012.

The crosscheck also found 35,570 voters in North Carolina who voted in 2012 whose first names, last names and dates of birth match those of voters who voted in other states in 2012, but whose Social Security numbers were not matched.”

“Making it more difficult to vote” is a good thing if it’s directed at illegal aliens who are not lawfully entitled to vote but do so anyways when the laws are lax, at dead voters who are also not legally permitted to vote but often continue voting in urban areas, and at those who have already voted in other voting districts.

When elections lose legitimacy, as American elections are now doing because of liberal corruption, everyone loses. Even the far left, as much as they despise following the rules, should support the rule of law in the area of free and fair elections that are limited to one man, one vote, and only those who are lawfully entitled to vote.

MTV repeatedly lied to young voters in 2004 and told them Bush was bringing back the draft. The only proposals were authored by Democrats and when they came to the floor even THEY voted against them.

Don't rig the vote, rock it? As if making certain that only qualified voters are counted constitutes rigging?

Rock it? You mean appeal to stupid people with a lot of rah rah emotive superficial crap?

Were it up to me, if you weren't a tax payer, and you weren't older than 21, I wouldn't let you vote at all. This group of people (non taxpayers and under 21) constitute the bulk of the idiot class in this nation, and nothing good has ever come of their opinions being introduced into the government's stream of consciousness.

Thank You ... Too bad we have so few outlets (airwaves) telling the truth to our young and our general population. The liars do own the majority of the airwaves, education systems and all other points of propaganda. Thank You for trying to be informative. The People that love America have to continue to inform, vote and pray for the best outcome ... and keep vigilant of those coming for the People that love this land. We are the tripwires!

So CNN thinks that fighting vote fraud is “rigging the vote?”

Asinine.

The only people who should be voting 18-21 are active-duty military, period.

That's what they should have put in the 26th amendment in the first place.

Their argument at the time was that if you are old enough to die for your country, you ought to be old enough to vote. The proponents of the 26th should have made that the main focus. Soldiers can vote. As for everyone else, if you aren't actively serving your country, screw you.

Awesome Mandela T-shirt! We need to put Sharpton and Jackson behind bars until they see it this way too.
