Scary times! Even veteran Californians were scared!

We had another eventful weekend. Three weekends ago, we had to replace the refrigerator. Last weekend the water heater went. On Saturday, we went to Grove City OUtlets. Power went out in many of the stores and threw out the computers. Long lines. Debit and credit cards had to be called in. (We DID get some excellent buys on baby clothes!) We stopped in at Sams Club in Butler on the way home. Got done shopping. Jeep wouldn’t start. Tried to start it. NOthing but a ‘click’. Had to call AAA. Guy came, gave us a jump. We ended up going to Advance Auto, just down the road. Bought a new battery. Ka-ching!

Good morning n’@!

Sneaks...I think we are living the same life....

Yesterday, was take our kid back to OH to college day. It started out w/a tire that been going low, being really low (but NOT flat) but, when putting air in discovered (upon really, really close inspection) that steel belt was edging thru. Fun times...two new front Jeep tires BEFORE we ever got on the road (about 2.5 hrs later). So security system is now on further delay.

Sorry to hear about your fridge—ours is freezing things in the back of shelves (just like one did we replaced w/this one). I’m just ignoring that situation and saying a Novena for my washer instead. Everything—planned obsolescence.

CA, Peru and Chile ALL have had pretty BIG shakes in the last couple of days. But, the place to watch is Iceland. Trust me on this...Bardarbunga volcano (as well as nearby Askja) have been having HUNDREDS of 3,4 and ALOT of 5 quakes (for about the last 9 days). On Saturday the Iceland officials raised their flight risk (from soon to occur ash cloud) to RED (a no fly zone)...last night back to orange. This is startling to those who post on blogs that I read (wish I could have gone to college and studied geology) because the Icelandic geologists are about the BEST in the world and the magma flow harmonic tremors that Bardarbunga is experiencing is pretty much unchartered waters. They are scratching their heads :-/. There was a fascinating link off a FR thread (on Saturday) to a page about the Summer of 1816 (The Summer That Never Happened). One of the big reasons for profound global cooling (and the ensuing crop losses and loss of life)...a very large volcanic eruption in Iceland (Laki Craters). Fascinating but truly scary.

No updates recently, though Quinn describes himself as a ‘soon-to-be-employed’ talk show host. I’ve heard rumors of possibly directly after Labor Day.

I hope so. I’m not sure I could stand another disappointment!

The global warmists should be more frightened of global cooling than global warming. This summer has been so cold and wet, our tomato plants are brown and the tomatoes have been taking forever to get red. The deer are extra bold going after our garden. I fear a really really cold winter. Growing season seems to be shorter. We’re thinking of putting low tunnels over our raised beds to keep in the warmth at night and deter deer and other critters.

One of the Farmer’s Almanacs is already calling for another brutal winter.

I’m going to start buying salt now. And stockpiling some extra food and such.

Just stopped in to see if any news about Quinn and Rose.

sneakers:" The deer are extra bold going after our garden. I fear a really really cold winter. Growing season seems to be shorter."

ON Saturdays, Freeper EXCELLENCE sends a link to Joe Bastardi's "WeatherBell Analytics", one of the most accurate long-range weather forecasts.
Bastardi is calling for this upcomming winter to be a repeat of last winter , and calls for heat and dry for the rest of the month, into early September.

Excellent idea. By late Feb. I could not find salt anyplace I usually buy it. A buddy turned me on to a little hole-in-the-wall True Value hardware store where the owner constantly worked the phones looking for new supplies. He would continue to get some but he’d blow out in an hour. So you’d almost have to be there waiting when the truck arrived. And it was at above-average prices, but I really had no alternative.
