Goodbye to Another of the "Greatest Generation"
August 26, 2014 | me

Although Jennes Christian Nelson, Jr. was not a FReeper, I hope you will join me in giving him a spiritual send off.

Jennes (JC) was born in 1927 and passed into Heaven on August 20th, 2014. He was the father of my oldest brother-in-law (we grew up with him and his sisters).

At 17, as soon as he graduated high school in 1944, JC enlisted in the Army Air Corps as an Air Cadet during WWII. He served with forces in the Philippines for two years, finishing with the Reserves in 1948 ( I do not know what his rank was).

He was a sweet man, and although I hadn't seen him in several years, I stayed in touch through one of his daughters, with whom I grew up (besties/same age/two months apart). He was a great family man and I know his family will miss him terribly.

I don't know the proper phrase for sending off of an Army Air Corps personnel, so I will say this: "At ease JC Nelson, Jr. Job well done."

PING~A~LING Y’ALL

Had to say goodbye to one of our greatest generation, yesterday.
He was the father of my oldest BIL (that’s him in the family photo with gun). The little girl hugging her daddy’s leg is my best friend.

It was a beautiful day for his funeral.

Condolences to You and the Family.

It disgusts Me to think that the WWII Generation saved the World and now it is being thrown away by the lazy generation.

Alas, we’re losing them all, and are now on our own in dealing with vast domestic and international problems.

R.I.P. hero.

My father who passed in 1993 was also Army Air Corps during WWII and later a charter member of the North Dakota Air National Guard-The Happy Hooligans. During the war he sent half of his pay home to his father who farmed in Iowa.

Good morning GBUSA

That family must have been picture taking fools. They had 4 boards of pictures and a “memory” book, I’d guess you’d call it, with a snippet of the family history (who’s who).

Thanks for being here. HUGS

Condolences to all of you.

They really WERE the greatest generation. Dad was Army Air Force, too. America was very lucky to have had so many selfless and patriotic men.
