It’s been a cool summer so far for many across the U.S. as 1,097 record low temperatures were set in August, according to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) temperature data.
NOAA reports that 1,097 “low maximum” temperature records were broken between Aug. 1 and Aug. 23 at locations across the country this year. This means that these temperatures on the day they were recorded were the coolest on record.
After a particularly long and frigid winter, summer for much of the U.S. has been cooler than normal, according to NOAA data. The average temperature for July was just 73.3 degrees Fahrenheit—0.3 degrees below the 20th century average. The average maximum temperature was 85.8 degrees Fahrenheit, or 0.9 degrees below average. …

A few days ago there was snow predicted in Idaho/Montana mountains. Everybody was aghast at the news.
This tells me that a very, very cold winter may really be happening.
Glad I bought all those sets of fleece to wear during the winter. I’m sure they’re going to come in handy.

If that volcano in Iceland blows it’s wad and puts a big dust cloud in the atmosphere it might make a cold winter. The road to the top of Mt. Evans Colorado was closed by snow last night. (it might have been Trail Ridge road - I heard it on the radio driving home)

If any of these scientists, climatologist, ManBearPigs, or anyone else can tell me, with EXACTING PROOF, exactly what the “normal temperature” should be at every single location on the globe at every single second of every single day, then I will personally sign on to be your LIFE-LONG INDENTURED SERVANT! And I will begin to not only espouse your Glo-BULL Warming crap, I will sell it with enthusiasm!

No lower-than-normal temperatures in central FL, but there has been more rainless days this summer, which is unusual.
I’ve seen it snow at the higher elevations of the Sierra here in California in July.

Wish I could have sent you all the rain we’ve had this summer. Our tomato crop looks like he**. Not enough sun and too cold. The fruit won’t ripen and the plants are wilting.
Come on down to SW Arizona! It’s been hot and humid all damn summer. Not a single record low yet.

On the other hand, my area of south-central Washington State just had the hottest August in recorded history (of course, western U.S. records don’t go back very far).
